Chapter 365: Feels Like an Eternity

Upon returning to the presidential suite, Raylee gave the masked man a peculiar look.

“Done being affectionate with your gay buddy? I actually thought things were heating up between you two, and you wouldn’t be coming home tonight.”

The masked man explained awkwardly, “There’s nothing going on between us. He’s just a good friend of mine, and it’s perfectly normal for us to hug each other, right?”

Raylee said in a sarcastic tone, “You’ve only been back in the country for half a year, and most of that time you’ve been with me. When did you become such close friends with him? Why didn’t I know about it? Was it love at first sight between the two of you? In other words, you’re gay buddies?”

The masked man swiftly pulled Raylee into his embrace.

“Never doubt my feelings for you. You previously suspected me and Angela too. Now you’re suspecting me of having an affair, and with another man at that. That’s an insult to me! Let me remind you, I’m straight. Not only do I like women, but I only like one woman, and that’s you. Please trust me a little more and stop overthinking, alright?”

When he finally finished speaking, his tone was filled with utter helplessness. My unquestionable sexual orientation has now been completely ruined by Halston, that idiot. I really regret not giving him a piece of my mind earlier!

Listening to the masked man’s sincere words, Raylee nodded in agreement despite not being entirely convinced.

“Fine, I won’t doubt you anymore, but you can’t just ignore Halston’s persistent thoughts about you. Who knows if he’s some kind of freak? It’s not uncommon for these scions of prestigious families to have strange fetishes.”

“Don’t worry, if he dares to lay a hand on me again, I’ll beat him to death!” the masked man assured her.

Raylee suddenly burst into laughter.

The masked man finally let her go, his tone somewhat serious as he said, “Alright, stop wasting your energy on these insignificant people. You should go back and get some sleep. I want to continue monitoring the situation. It is now confirmed that the terrorists who were apprehended were all members of WC. All of them confessed that the person who led this terror attack was Maximus. I have to strike while the iron’s hot. I need to find Maximus as soon as possible!”

Kaylee suggested, “Let’s review the surveillance footage together.”

“No need, given your current condition, you should rest more to prevent your illness from rapidly deteriorating.”

“Alright, whatever you say.”

The masked man suddenly let out a sigh, expressing his melancholy.

“Ray–Ray, do you know? I’m desperate to find Maximus right now, not for revenge, but to retrieve your experimental data from him. He is the mentee of the Epean professor, so he surely has a substantial amount of data in his possession. Somewhere along the line, avenging my mother’s death has become less important than you. You must wait for me. I will exhaust all possible means to obtain the experimental data and develop a drug to save your life.”

Tears welled up in Raylee’s eyes. “No! Don’t place so much importance on me. I fear that I might just die one day, letting you…”

“After wasting so many years fumbling around, I finally have you,” the masked man said, his rough hand gently caressing her cheek. “If you’re not important, then who is? You matter to me more than my own life.”

Kaylee looked puzzled. “You wanted many years? But haven’t we known each other for just over half a year?”

Chapter 365: Feels Like an Eternity

With a warm, fuzzy feeling in her heart, Raylee returned to her room to continue her slumber.

What’s the big deal about being gravely ill or bearing the mark of a terrorist? So what if I’m not long for this world if the experimental data can’t be found?

She wasn’t scared at all, nor did she care. Her heart would be peaceful whenever the masked man was by her side… Nothing could compare to the sense of security he provided her.

Dawn had just broken, and the sounds of conversation from the living room had roused Raylee from her slumber. It wasn’t the masked man who was speaking with the bodyguard but Halston. The voice of this eccentric individual was deep and resonant, so distinctive that one could recognize it anywhere.

Is he here to steal my man again?

Raylee quickly got up and made her way to the living room. Sure enough, the latter was showing his care by having brought breakfast upon seeing her. Halston was overcome with emotion.

“My beloved Ray–Ray, you’re awake? I’ve brought you breakfast just for you! I wasn’t sure what you liked to eat, so I bought a variety of things. There’s oatmeal, ravioli, croissants… Hehe, feel free to eat whatever you like. After all, these are all… um, all the things that Leonardo loves!”

After he finished speaking, he looked at the masked man, raising his eyebrows smugly. “Leonardo, I’m pretty awesome, right? I even remember your favorite food. Quick, tell me how amazing I am!”

His expression was one of reverence and adoration, just like a fanboy who had just met his idol.
