The masked man said with the same detached tone, “That is more complicated; I’ll explain it to you later.”
“Don’t wait for later, I want to know now. Please tell me!” Halston urged impatiently.
“To cut a long story short, after I jumped into the river, I was lucky enough to be swept downstream and someone saved me. You can’t tell anyone that I’m still alive, understood? If I find out you’ve leaked even a whisper of this, don’t blame me for being ruthless, even if we are sworn brothers,” the masked man warned.
“Don’t worry, my lips are sealed. I promise, I won’t tell a soul. Even if they were to kill me, I wouldn’t let slip a single word. I used to hang out with you, didn’t I? We’ve been like brothers for so many years! Don’t you trust my character?” Halston assured solemnly.
The masked man nodded. “It’s because I trust you that I didn’t react adversely toward you even after you removed my mask. I only revealed my true identity to you because you saved Ray—Ray. Please, don’t let me down.”
“All right. I need to go back and explain things to Ray—Ray. You should hurry home. Even after getting hurt, you can’t sit still. You really ate like an overgrown child.”
After the masked man entered the elevator, Halston attempted to follow him in, only to be kicked out by a swift foot. The elevator doors closed, and the masked man observed his own reflection on the wall. He had been concealing his identity behind a mask for almost a year now.
