Chapter 360: I Will Be Waiting

Watching his mouth gape open like a dog's, Raylee could hardly bear it any longer. Just as she was about to lose her temper, a large hand suddenly snatched the glass from her grasp. Raylee recognized that hand and turned around in excitement. “Leo—”

The masked man hastily motioned for her to keep quiet. Raylee acknowledged with a nod. Next, the masked man approached the bedside, firmly grasping Halston’s face, causing his mouth to gape even wider. Then, he poured all the water from the glass straight into his mouth. Regardless of whether he had time to swallow, he poured the entire glass in one go.

“Cough, cough, cough…” Halston was choking so severely that he felt as if he’d coughed up his entire insides.

“Y–Y–You…” He was preoccupied with his coughing, and despite the long wait, he didn’t utter a single word.

“Did you enjoy the water poured by my girlfriend and served by me?” the masked man asked calmly.

Unable to hold back, Raylee let out a burst of laughter. Despite everything, there was something pitiful about the way Halston looked, as if he had been forced to drink more than he could handle. It was truly hilarious and felt quite satisfying.

It took a while for Halston to regain his composure. With his face flushed red from restraint, he looked toward the masked man, crying out in astonishment, “Are you Mr. Foucault? The legendary prince and heir of the Malk royal family, reputed to be wealthy enough to rival nations?”

The masked man nodded and replied politely, “Indeed.”

“My goodness! Did you just say that Ray—Ray is your girlfriend? Is that true? Don’t lie to me!” Halston exclaimed in disbelief.

The masked man swiftly wrapped his arm around Raylee’s shoulder, conveying his answer through his actions. Halston was so heartbroken that he nearly shed tears. “You two are actually together? No, this absolutely won’t do!”

“Why not?” Raylee asked innocently, nestling her head into the sturdy chest of the masked man. “I am deeply in love with Mr. Foucault. He is the only man for me.”

Halston wore a gloomy expression as he protested resentfully, “Because you two are from different worlds! In his world, a man is allowed to have multiple wives! Moreover, he is a prince! Since ancient times, which royal man didn’t have a multitude of wives and concubines? Ray—Ray, if you end up with him, who knows how far back you’ll be in his line of priorities? Kay Ray, only I could ever love you with all my heart! You are the only one for me!”

Watching Halston blatantly trying to steal his woman right in front of him, the masked man was seething with anger. “Enenigh Greenhead! You’re barely out of the nest and yet you dare compete with me for my woman! Hurry up and go back to where you came from, or you’ll regret it!”

“What the F*ck did you just say to me? Don’t think you can freely use my nickname just because you’re some prince! Only…”

“No, he is my sworn brother and also the son of the Lorimer family. Sadly, he’s no longer with us. If he were still here, he would definitely be helping me with my dating game! Oh, my dear sworn brother, why did you leave us so soon? I miss you terribly,” Halston said, his face filled with sorrow.

It was uncertain whether the heartache from the failed romance was too overwhelming, or the longing for his sworn brother was simply too intense, but Halston was overwhelmed with emotion and let out a cry before burying his face in the pillow, his tears soaking the fabric. He was the spitting image of a young man going through an adolescent phase.

Raylee was completely at a loss for words. Yet, the masked man seemed completely unfazed by the oddity of it all.

“Pull yourself together! A grown man like you, whimpering like a woman. If you don’t need what’s down there, you might as well get rid of it!” he barked, his voice laced with frustration.

“Why do you sound so much like my sworn brother? He loved to berate me for being effeminate too! I won’t allow you to imitate him! He is truly one of a kind, irreplaceable by anyone! I’m telling you, I won’t give up on Ray—Ray. It was love at first sight for me with Ray—Ray. I’m in love with her, and she’s the only one for me in this life! You’d better keep a close eye on her, or I’ll snatch her away at the first opportunity! I’m the young master of the Mulligan family, and I’m younger than you. I have an advantage; my circumstances are no worse than yours! Let’s have a one-on-one challenge and see who can outdo the other!” Halston huffed heavily.

Faced with Halston’s incessant chatter, the masked man didn’t even bother to acknowledge it. Considering how Halston had saved the woman he cherished, he decided not to hold a grudge against him. He walked over and lightly tapped his face twice. “All right; I’ll be waiting for your challenge!”

After he finished speaking, he wrapped his arms around Raylee and left the hospital ward. Not long after stepping out of the hospital ward, Raylee couldn’t resist her longing and threw herself into the arms of the masked man, expressing her pent-up emotions by saying, “Weren’t you in East Aploth? How come you’re back all of a sudden? I’ve missed you so much!”
