Chapter 359: How Will You Repay Me?

“Ray-Ray actually laughed? Haha! I can’t believe I made Ray-Ray laugh! Isn’t it a talent in itself to be able to make the woman you like laugh?”

Although grimacing in pain from his wound, Halston was filled with an overwhelming sense of pride.

“Doctor, how is his injury?” Raylee asked as she walked over.

Regardless of personal feelings, it was because of her that Halston was injured. As such, she should, at the very least, show some concern.

“The bullet has been removed. Fortunately, the wound wasn’t deep. With some rest, there should be no major issues,” the doctor replied.

“Thank you, doctor.”

Once the doctor and nurse had left, Halston asked, “Ray-Ray, tell me, how will you repay me for this? This is the first time I’ve taken a bullet for a woman, you know! I gave you my precious first time, so you mustn’t let me down!”

As he spoke, he resembled a bashful rose, his face displaying the look of an innocent person who, after being taken advantage of, demanded the other party to take responsibility. He was a joker, yet also a master of drama. Given his ambiguous tone, it seemed as if he truly had his first time stolen.

Irritated, Kaylee flicked his forehead with the tip of her finger. “Be serious, will you? I almost forgot about your track record, buddy. You got a girl pregnant back in high school and got expelled. You were then sent to join the military by your family, probably because you were too unruly, right?”

“Rumors! They’re nothing but rumors! Where did you hear that from? Who the f*ck is spreading false rumors about me? I’m still a virgin! I’ve only ever held a girl’s hand!” Halston immediately defended himself.

“Rumors: Really?” Raylee eyed him skeptically.

“I heard about this from Samuel. He mentioned that everyone in that grandma had heard about it, and while she was alive, she advised me not to go on a blind date with you.”

Halston was seething with frustration. “This is so frustrating! I never did that! How dare Samuel backstab me like that! Once I’m out of the hospital, I’ll give him a piece of my mind! I was expelled because I got into fights and wouldn’t listen to discipline, Ray-Ray. You could go to the high school I attended and ask around! Though I may be a bit mischievous, my family has a military background that spans three generations. We carry a sense of integrity and pride. Rest assured, I possess the necessary courage and quality!”

Seeing Halston so agitated, Kaylee speculated that he probably hadn’t done anything that reckless before. As for who was spreading these inaccuracies, that remained unknown. Having been a victim of Waverly’s false rumors herself, Kaylee found herself somewhat believing in Halston’s words. Her impression of him had improved somewhat.

Following that, Halston made several more phone calls, reaching out to teachers from his school and elders from his family. He asked them to explain to Kaylee how he had never gotten a girl pregnant, and that he was a good man.

Kaylee was nonplussed when she saw that: “All right; I trust you. You focus on healing up for now, and I’ll come visit you another day.”

5:10 PM

Chapter 359: How Will You Repay Me?

“Yes! I’ve been longing for this!” Halston was nodding his head as if pecking like a little chick. However, said happiness was gone as soon as it had arrived.

“Talk to the hand; I already have a boyfriend!” Raylee brutally rejected him.

“Boyfriend? Where is he? There was such a serious terrorist attack today, and he wasn’t by your side! Such a boyfriend, who showed not a shred of responsibility, should be treated as if he doesn’t exist at all!” Halston concluded.

Plumpy couldn’t help but break the news, saying, “Ms. Somers, sir has already disembarked from the plane. He will be here shortly.”

“So, you really do have a boyfriend? Don’t try to intimidate me. Unless I see this so-called boyfriend of yours, I’m treating you as if you’re single. Besides, what does it matter? As long as you play your cards right, what woman can’t be won over?” Halston said, his tone dripping with jealousy.

Since he was spouting nothing but nonsense without a shred of seriousness, Raylee had no interest in entertaining him. She turned around and promptly left the hospital ward.

Lifting his arm, which was heavily bandaged, Halston pleaded, “Ray-Ray, don’t leave! Could you fetch me a glass of water, as a way of thanking me? Would that be all right? Argh… This wound really hurts! What should I do? I haven’t lost the use of my hand, have I? Ray-Ray, if I lose a hand, how am I supposed to live my life? Will I ever be able to get married?”

“Enough! Shut up!” Under normal circumstances, Raylee would definitely have silenced him by stuffing a rag into his mouth. But now, he was hurt because of her, so she suppressed her annoyance and poured him a glass of water.

Treated with such kindness by Raylee herself, Halston was so moved that he was on the verge of tears. He closed his eyes, a mix of pleasure and audacity playing on his features as he opened his mouth wide, “Feed me!”
