Chapter 318: Causing a Ruckus

Raylee was filled with confusion. Naturally, she didn't want it to be a coincidence. Instead, she hoped Waverly had pendants of the other shapes. However, given their souring relationship, even if Waverly had what she needed, she probably wouldn't give it to her. As such, Raylee needed to consider other methods to coax information out of Waverly.

Waverly's visits to the Sutherland family could be counted on two hands. Even though she had been with Casimir for over four years, he had never once brought her home. Over the years, every visit she made was always accompanied by her parents. It was all for show, and essentially amounted to nothing. Given that, it became questionable if it was really necessary for such an engaged couple to forcibly stay together. Even though she knew Casimir didn't love her, she felt it was enough if she loved him. All she needed was for Casimir to be willing to grant her the status of lady of the Sutherland family. That would be enough for her. She was willing to let time take its course, patiently waiting for him to gradually fall in love with her.

Upon entering the living room, Waverly was informed by the housekeeper that Casimir had gone on a business trip. She called Casimir directly, but her calls always went unanswered. Overwhelmed with frustration, she immediately dialed his number using the housekeeper's phone. The call was answered almost instantly. From the loudspeaker came the slightly weary voice of Casimir. โ€œDidnโ€™t I make myself clear? Tell her that Iโ€™m neither at home nor at the office because Iโ€™m on a business trip. Now, stop disturbing my sleep.โ€

At that moment, Waverly was utterly unable to control her emotions. She strained her throat, her voice emerging almost as a low growl as she exclaimed, โ€œCasimir, youโ€™re home, arenโ€™t you? Why are you avoiding me? Am I some kind of terrifying beast that you need to steer clear of? Do you even consider me your fiancรฉe? Donโ€™t forget: Iโ€™m the woman youโ€™ve publicly declared to the world as your fiancรฉe! Iโ€™m telling you; getting rid of me wonโ€™t be that easy!โ€

On the other end, Casimir was at his wit's end, patiently explaining, โ€œWhen did I ever say I was ditching you? Iโ€™ve just been busy lately.โ€

โ€œToo busy to even make a phone call? Were you so busy that you couldnโ€™t even contact me? Do you have any idea how worried my mom and dad were, looking for you? Our family is going through tough times, yet youโ€™ve been avoiding us. What was I supposed to think? If you werenโ€™t trying to ditch me, then what were you up to?โ€ Waverly lamented tearfully.

โ€œIโ€™ve got another video conference to attend; Iโ€™ll get back to you later,โ€ Casimir said impatiently and hung up the phone.

The thing that annoyed him most was when Waverly cried. She would cry at the drop of a hat, as if her tears were endless. He did indeed plan on taking advantage of the Goodridge familyโ€™s crisis to break off his engagement with Waverly. A marriage alliance of no value had no reason to exist, especially when there was no love between them.

Only Margaret was fervently fighting for his freedom.

I wonder how the negotiations turned out? Regardless, Iโ€™m truly fed up with Waverlyโ€™s presence. The sooner this ordeal is over, the sooner I could be free! Once I regain my freedom, I could pursue Raylee without any restraint! I wonder how her relationship with Mr. Foucault has progressed. No matter what, I wouldnโ€™t mind it one bit. Even if I do feel a pang of jealousy, I can just turn a blind eye. Rumor has it that Alaric had transferred thirty percent of his shares to Mr. Foucault in an effort to save Waverly. Would Mr. Foucault consider transferring those shares to Raylee if things were to progress well between them? The thought alone made Casimirโ€™s eyes light up. If Raylee could secure the thirty percent of shares and then gift them to me, I would undoubtedly skyrocket to success! Casimir was overjoyed and indulged in his sweet dreams. Even the gloom associated with his marriage alliance with Waverly had completely dissipated.

Meanwhile, in the living room of the Sutherland residence, Waverly tried to call Casimir back after being hurriedly cut off on the phone, but he didnโ€™t pick up anymore. In a fit of anger, she hurled the phone. The housekeeper gasped from the side. โ€œAh! Thatโ€™s my phone, Ms. Goodridge!โ€

Unfazed by her surroundings, Waverly made a beeline for the stairs, intent on finding Casimir, who was presumably busy in his room. Upon seeing the situation, several housekeepers rushed over to hold her back. However, she forcefully shoved them, causing them to stumble and fall. Suddenly, the house was filled with cries of despair. At that moment, a stern voice echoed from the entrance. โ€œWho dares to cause a ruckus in the Sutherland residence?โ€
