Chapter 215: An Adulterer
With a somber expression, Samuel stated assertively, โHow could it have nothing to do with Casimir? Theyโve been friends since childhood, and you were once engaged to Casimir. Now, youโre involved with his close friend. What kind of situation is this? Regardless, I forbid you to have any dealings with Percival. One reason is Casimir, but more importantly, if the Lorimer family finds out, they wonโt just be angry with you. Instead, they would also implicate the Goodridge family!โ
Raylee was so upset that she nearly dropped dead on the spot. She lowered her head and fiercely bit down on Samuelโs hand.
โArgh! Let go of me!โ Samuel cried out in agony. He quickly released her, but she didnโt let up in the slightest. Only after drawing blood did Raylee release her bite. She spat out forcefully, ridding herself of Samuelโs blood that had somehow found its way into her mouth. After wiping her lips, she finally said in a tone of disgust, โWatch your mouth, or Iโll bite you to death. If that doesnโt kill you, Iโll bash you until you die! Iโm not the same Raylee as before. Push me to the edge, and I might just take your life in an instant!โ
โDare you?โ Samuel was seething with anger. โIโm your elder brother, yet youโre so disrespectful, always ready to pick a fight with me. If I donโt teach you a lesson, youโll lose sight of whoโs calling the shots!โ
Samuel raised his hand, poised to deliver a slap, when suddenly, someone firmly gripped his wrist. Percival had been searching all the way, and from a distance, he spotted two people engaged in an argument. Seeing Samuel about to hit Raylee, he couldnโt help but thunder, โMr. Goodridge, hitting a woman is not something a man should do. A manโs hands are meant to conquer the world!โ
โItโs you? I havenโt even settled the score with you, yet you have the audacity to show up in front of me?โ Samuel said in a menacing tone.
โI have always been open and aboveboard. Why should I fear to appear before you?โ Percival asked, a look of confusion on his face. โAlso, what issue do you have with me? I donโt seem to have a conflict with you, Mr. Goodridge.โ
Raylee didnโt want Samuelโs suspicions to taint Percivalโs ears, so she gently pulled on his arm and said, โDr. Shapiro, heโs had one too many, just here ranting in his drunken stupor. Donโt mind him. Letโs get going quickly.โ
โAll right.โ
Although Percival didnโt quite understand, he didnโt press for answers. He left with Raylee; Raylee even rested her hand on Percivalโs arm.
From Samuelโs perspective, that scene depicted the intimate behavior between the two individuals. Immediately, his face twitched with rage. As suspected, Raylee is indeed dating Percival! Whatโs more, sheโs deliberately flaunting their relationship for me to see! She could be a hopeless romantic, but is Percival so dull? Doesnโt he understand the situation? Doesnโt he know heโs not the right match for Raylee? After all, heโs an authoritative figure in the medical field. How could he possibly not understand the seriousness of the situation? Heโs stubbornly doing something even though he knows it is impossible. This is simply infuriating! Samuelโs face turned an angry shade of purple, and he was planning to teach that clueless man a much-needed lesson. Under the influence of alcohol, he took a swift stride forward. A fist was then ruthlessly slammed into Percivalโs back.
Percival was hit so hard that he staggered forward, teetering unsteadily for a few steps. He nearly ended up falling flat on his face. Glancing back, he was surprised to see that Samuel was the one who had hit him. Besides, Samuel had no intention of stopping. Raising his fist, he continued to charge forward with a fierce and threatening demeanor, resembling a raging lion, intent onโฆ
โSamuel, have you lost your mind? Did I provoke you or something? Why would you hit me for no reason?โ
Percival was taken aback, swiftly sidestepping to dodge Samuelโs second attack. Rayleeโs eyes widened in terror. Immediately, she spread her arms wide, positioning herself in front of Percival. She didnโt expect that Samuel would have the audacity to lay a hand on Percival. After all, he was chastising her earlier for flirting with Percival. Hence, even if he were to hit someone, logically, he would hit Raylee. Indeed, heโs stupid, leaving people clueless about what heโs really thinking! Raylee, much like a mother hen protecting her chick, guarded Percival fiercely. โSamuel, stop it! If you continue this madness, donโt blame me for losing my patience!โ
She strained her throat, shouting furiously at Samuel. โHow dare you defend this adulterer? Believe it or not, Iโll hit you too!โ
Samuelโs teeth gritted with an audible grind. Every word he roared out was laced with intense anger. Raylee was left utterly despondent by Samuelโs obtuse and obstinate behavior. Just moments ago, he was accusing me of being promiscuous. Now, however, heโs branding Percival as an adulterer. So, in his eyes, is there no one worthy of his respect? Oh! Yes, there is. His dear sister and the Goodridge family! Heโs blindly devoted to his beloved family members, even when they commit horrendous acts.
