Chapter 214: Once My Sister
โSamuel, you have quite an imagination. Itโs a shame youโre not a screenwriter,โ Raylee said, her gaze filled with sarcasm as she stared at him. โHowever, I donโt have time to listen to your nonsense here. If youโve got nothing better to do, you might as well throw yourself off a building. Thereโs a thirty-story one right next to you. If you think jumping off a building is a gruesome way to die, you could consider jumping into a lake instead. Thereโs a man-made lake less than a kilometer away from you. If youโre unfamiliar with the way, I donโt mind guiding you there! After youโre gone, Iโll make sure to inform your family to take care of your remains!โ
โHey! You addressed me as your brother for eighteen years, no? How dare you wish me dead?โ Samuel was seething with indignation. โLet me tell you something. Iโm not going anywhere! Iโll be watching you, not giving you any chance to harm Wavy, and I absolutely wonโt allow you to do anything that could hurt the Goodridge family! I will definitely get to the bottom of whatโs going on between you and Percival!โ
Listening to his nonsense, Raylee really wished she had a few more bricks to knock him out once and for all. She then uttered in an annoyed tone, โStop filling your mind with all those dirty thoughts. My relationship with Dr. Shapiro is pure and innocent, so quit spewing nonsense!โ
โFine! If you wonโt admit it, I wonโt force you.โ Samuel had sobered up considerably, and once he had calmed down, his tone became much gentler. โIโm sorry. I was a bit hasty earlier. Did I hurt you when I pulled you?โ he asked with concern.
Raylee looked at him in disbelief. What the actual heck? Is this dimwit actually apologizing to me? Have I misheard?
โDo you know? After your return from Musmeynia, youโve been completely free from Jeremiah. Iโm genuinely happy for you.โ Samuel looked relieved and said, โI think youโve finally managed to escape from the inferno. In the future, if you find your true love, I will sincerely wish you happiness. Even if our animosity ran deep and even if you wished me dead, I would only ever wish for your happiness. Thatโs because you were once my sister. Even if you donโt acknowledge me, Iโll always consider you as my sister.โ
Listening to his submissive tone, for a moment, Raylee was somewhat unaccustomed to it. Just a moment ago, he appeared fierce and menacing. Suddenly, he seemed to have turned over a new leaf. However, in the next moment, Raylee felt as if she had been harshly slapped in the face. She profoundly realized that a leopard would never change its spots.
Samuelโs tone took a sharp turn, and he said sternly, โHowever, why do you have to fall in love with Percival of all people? Itโs simply not the right one for you! There are so many men in the world. Why do you insist on choosing the one thatโs not right for you? Are you purposefully trying to pick a fight with me and the Goodridge family?โ
The fury within Raylee surged uncontrollably, and she couldnโt help but shout angrily, โBullshit! Samuel, do you think Iโm just letting you walk all over me? What gives you the right to repeatedly humiliate me? How many times do I have to explain before you finally shut your mouth?โ
Samuel retorted indignantly, โDid I say something wrong? It hasnโt been long since Jeremiah passed away, and youโre already rushing to find a replacement! Youโre even flaunting your love on the streets! Jexburgh is only so big. Are you worried the Lorimer family wonโt hear about it? I donโt care if the Lorimer family holds you accountable, but if you involve the Goodridge family in this, I wonโt stand by and do nothing!โ
โLet me tell you again. Thereโs absolutely nothing going on between Dr. Shapiro and me,โ Raylee said, her temper flaring. โIf you continue to slander me with your baseless accusations, Iโll make sure youโre silenced for good!โ With that, she turned around and stormed off.
However, she just couldnโt seem to shake Samuel off. Samuel, like a persistent pest, clung to her, spouting nonsense every time he opened his mouth.
โWhen did you and Percival get together? Were you seeing him behind Jeremiahโs back while you two were dating?โ
โCut the crap! Youโre the one whoโs been sneaking around! Your whole family has!โ Raylee exclaimed in fury.
Something crossed Samuelโs mind, and he couldnโt help but murmur, โYouโre reacting so strongly, so itโs clear youโre feeling guilty. I must have hit the nail on the head! I remember now. That time in the hospital ward, when Percival spoke up for you, his concern for you was palpable. It was far from the typical patient-doctor relationship. Back then, I didnโt even consider that possibilityโฆ Who would have seen this coming?โ
After a bout of suspicion, Samuel seemed to have confirmed the evidence of Rayleeโs supposed crimes, as if setting in stone her guilt. โRaylee, you were two-timing, werenโt you? Youโre simply promiscuous! I truly underestimated you before! Do you even know that Percival is Casimirโs childhood friend? Youโve actually seduced his close friend. How could you do this to Casimir?โ
Raylee chuckled. This dimwitโs thought process is truly incomparable, far from what an average person could match. With a stern expression, she retorted, โMr. Goodridge, Iโm serious. You should consider seeing a neurologist soon. Youโve even forgotten that Casimir and I have called off our engagement. Your memory issue seems quite severe. Thereโs nothing going on between me and Percival, but even if there was something, it would have nothing to do with Casimir! I, Raylee, have wronged no one. It is all of you who have wronged me!โ
