Chapter 214: Once My Sister

“Samuel, you have quite an imagination. It’s a shame you’re not a screenwriter,” Raylee said, her gaze filled with sarcasm as she stared at him. “However, I don’t have time to listen to your nonsense here. If you’ve got nothing better to do, you might as well throw yourself off a building. There’s a thirty-story one right next to you. If you think jumping off a building is a gruesome way to die, you could consider jumping into a lake instead. There’s a man-made lake less than a kilometer away from you. If you’re unfamiliar with the way, I don’t mind guiding you there! After you’re gone, I’ll make sure to inform your family to take care of your remains!”

“Hey! You addressed me as your brother for eighteen years, no? How dare you wish me dead?” Samuel was seething with indignation. “Let me tell you something. I’m not going anywhere! I’ll be watching you, not giving you any chance to harm Wavy, and I absolutely won’t allow you to do anything that could hurt the Goodridge family! I will definitely get to the bottom of what’s going on between you and Percival!”

Listening to his nonsense, Raylee really wished she had a few more bricks to knock him out once and for all. She then uttered in an annoyed tone, “Stop filling your mind with all those dirty thoughts. My relationship with Dr. Shapiro is pure and innocent, so quit spewing nonsense!”

“Fine! If you won’t admit it, I won’t force you.” Samuel had sobered up considerably, and once he had calmed down, his tone became much gentler. “I’m sorry. I was a bit hasty earlier. Did I hurt you when I pulled you?” he asked with concern.

Raylee looked at him in disbelief. What the actual heck? Is this dimwit actually apologizing to me? Have I misheard?

“Do you know? After your return from Musmeynia, you’ve been completely free from Jeremiah. I’m genuinely happy for you.” Samuel looked relieved and said, “I think you’ve finally managed to escape from the inferno. In the future, if you find your true love, I will sincerely wish you happiness. Even if our animosity ran deep and even if you wished me dead, I would only ever wish for your happiness. That’s because you were once my sister. Even if you don’t acknowledge me, I’ll always consider you as my sister.”

Listening to his submissive tone, for a moment, Raylee was somewhat unaccustomed to it. Just a moment ago, he appeared fierce and menacing. Suddenly, he seemed to have turned over a new leaf. However, in the next moment, Raylee felt as if she had been harshly slapped in the face. She profoundly realized that a leopard would never change its spots.

Samuel’s tone took a sharp turn, and he said sternly, “However, why do you have to fall in love with Percival of all people? It’s simply not the right one for you! There are so many men in the world. Why do you insist on choosing the one that’s not right for you? Are you purposefully trying to pick a fight with me and the Goodridge family?”

The fury within Raylee surged uncontrollably, and she couldn’t help but shout angrily, “Bullshit! Samuel, do you think I’m just letting you walk all over me? What gives you the right to repeatedly humiliate me? How many times do I have to explain before you finally shut your mouth?”

Samuel retorted indignantly, “Did I say something wrong? It hasn’t been long since Jeremiah passed away, and you’re already rushing to find a replacement! You’re even flaunting your love on the streets! Jexburgh is only so big. Are you worried the Lorimer family won’t hear about it? I don’t care if the Lorimer family holds you accountable, but if you involve the Goodridge family in this, I won’t stand by and do nothing!”

“Let me tell you again. There’s absolutely nothing going on between Dr. Shapiro and me,” Raylee said, her temper flaring. “If you continue to slander me with your baseless accusations, I’ll make sure you’re silenced for good!” With that, she turned around and stormed off.

However, she just couldn’t seem to shake Samuel off. Samuel, like a persistent pest, clung to her, spouting nonsense every time he opened his mouth.

“When did you and Percival get together? Were you seeing him behind Jeremiah’s back while you two were dating?”

“Cut the crap! You’re the one who’s been sneaking around! Your whole family has!” Raylee exclaimed in fury.

Something crossed Samuel’s mind, and he couldn’t help but murmur, “You’re reacting so strongly, so it’s clear you’re feeling guilty. I must have hit the nail on the head! I remember now. That time in the hospital ward, when Percival spoke up for you, his concern for you was palpable. It was far from the typical patient-doctor relationship. Back then, I didn’t even consider that possibility… Who would have seen this coming?”

After a bout of suspicion, Samuel seemed to have confirmed the evidence of Raylee’s supposed crimes, as if setting in stone her guilt. “Raylee, you were two-timing, weren’t you? You’re simply promiscuous! I truly underestimated you before! Do you even know that Percival is Casimir’s childhood friend? You’ve actually seduced his close friend. How could you do this to Casimir?”

Raylee chuckled. This dimwit’s thought process is truly incomparable, far from what an average person could match. With a stern expression, she retorted, “Mr. Goodridge, I’m serious. You should consider seeing a neurologist soon. You’ve even forgotten that Casimir and I have called off our engagement. Your memory issue seems quite severe. There’s nothing going on between me and Percival, but even if there was something, it would have nothing to do with Casimir! I, Raylee, have wronged no one. It is all of you who have wronged me!”
