Chapter 213: Affectionate Gaze
โDr. Shapiro, youโre back so quickly. You didnโt just relieve yourself by the roadside, did you?โ
While laughing and teasing, Raylee turned her head. What met her gaze was Samuel, instead of Percival. She reacted as if she had seen a ghost, her face drastically changing as she said, โSamuel? What on earth are you doing skulking around here in the middle of the night?โ
Raylee definitely treated it as a nightmare because nothing good ever came from encountering that person. This is even more troublesome than dealing with a ghost.
Indeed, in the next moment, without uttering a word, Samuel took her hand and led her forward. His face was dark and displeased; it was as though Raylee owed him money.
โWhat are you doing? I didnโt provoke you. Let go of me now!โ Raylee shouted as she struggled.
However, the more she struggled, the tighter Samuel held on. Under the influence of alcohol, he radiated an aura of aggression. He practically dragged her away, pulling and tugging.
โIf you donโt let go, Iโll scream. Iโm not afraid of making a scene!โ Raylee said, clearly annoyed.
โGo ahead! Scream all you want! I wonโt let you go, even if youโre hoarse!โ Samuel barked at her in anger.
A wave of irritation washed over Raylee the moment she caught a faint whiff of alcohol on him.
โAre you sick or something? After having a bit of booze, youโre acting all crazy right here! Iโm not your punching bag, so let go of me now! You wonโt, huh? You think youโre the only one who can lose it?โ
No sooner had the words been spoken than Raylee, quick as lightning, picked up a stone from the ground. She lunged forward, forcefully striking down on Samuelโs head.
โArghโฆโ Samuel immediately let out a pained groan as he was hit. He let go of Raylee, clutching his aching forehead with his hand. His palm was damp. Upon opening it, he discovered that he was bleeding. His drunken haze quickly dissipated, and he gradually sobered up.
He glared at Raylee and flew into a rage out of humiliation. โRaylee, how dare you strike me? You have some nerve!โ
That wasnโt the first time she had hit him. The last time they were in the hospital ward, she had hurled a cup at him, which had also resulted in him bleeding.
โHmph! You brought this on yourself, who else is there to blame? Also, hitting you isnโt the worst I can do. If you dare lay a hand on me again, Iโll kill you!โ
Rayleeโs eyes were blazing red. At that moment, her petite face was filled with rage, making her resemble a furious lioness. With gritted teeth, Samuel accepted his misfortune. He wiped the fresh blood off with his sleeve before reprimanding, โWho gave you permission to mess with Percival? Youโre out late at night, gallivanting around with men and showing no hint of the restraint a young lady should possess! If you had followed the rules, how would I have gotten the chance to catch you in the act?โ
Raylee couldnโt help but laugh. This is unbelievable. Who does Samuel think he is? What right does he have to interfere with her? What right does he have to judge and criticize her?
โMr. Goodridge, instead of wasting your time talking nonsense here, wouldnโt it be better to visit the neurology department?โ Raylee mocked, her lips curling in amusement. โAre you stupid or something? Why are you constantly fantasizing that Iโm still your sister? Wake up! Weโre not siblings! Weโre enemies! I have no ties with you whatsoever, so I do what I please. Itโs not your place to meddle in my affairs!โ
Samuelโs face was taut with tension, his entire demeanor radiating an intense irritability. If he had fur, it would surely have been standing on end at that moment. He picked up the stone that Raylee had thrown at him and fiercely hurled it onto the ground. The stone instantly broke into pieces. Raylee narrowly escaped injury from the flying shards of the stone. This is utterly ridiculous. This guy is out of line! How dare he get angry? Iโm an innocent victim here, but who am I supposed to turn to for justice?
โAbsolutely absurd!โ shouted Raylee as she turned on her heel to leave. She had no intention of getting entangled with a drunkard. Drunk people werenโt exactly clear-headed, and she certainly wasnโt looking to bring trouble upon herself.
Samuel, however, wouldnโt let her leave. He quickly stepped forward, blocking her path.
โAnswer me. Are you in a relationship with Percival?โ His inquiry was laden with a gloomy stare, and his tone was overbearing. โYou must tell me the truth! This is no laughing matter! You donโt have to lie to me. I saw it all. The affectionate gaze Percival has for you is obvious!โ
Samuel became even more certain of his suspicions. Clearly, he went with answers to ask questions.
Raylee was left speechless by his words. The heck? Which discerning eye did Samuel use to figure out that she was dating Percival? This is simply absurd. How could she possibly be involved with Dr. Shapiro? For one, theyโve only known each other for such a short period of time. Secondly, Percival is the one who understands her physical condition best. How could a man as outstanding as him possibly take an interest in her? Did he say affectionate gaze? My foot!
