Chapter 369

Nearby, Madison kept glancing their way, her eyes keenly observing. Alicia broke the silence, whispering, “Mr. Hopkins, would you like me to pretend this isn't happening?”

Cliff tensed momentarily. “No need. Just act naturally. I’ll handle my mother.” Alicia exhaled, relieved. Beneath his serious demeanor, Cliff proved surprisingly approachable.

Gradually, more guests filled the table. Meanwhile, Madison, the perfect hostess, invited Caden to join them for drinks. Just as he was about to accept, his gaze fell on Alicia, seated beside Cliff. His eyes narrowed, his expression guarded. Madison followed his line of sight and smiled warmly.

“Caden, you and Ms. Bennett are friends, aren’t you?”

“You could say that,” Caden replied.

“I’ve noticed some business interactions. Cliff can be a bit clueless with women. If you have a moment, could you help him? Perhaps set him up with Ms. Bennett? You’ve known each other a long time, and he’ll listen to you.”

Caden felt a mix of amusement and frustration. “Set him up with Alicia?”

“Absolutely! She’s wonderful! Beautiful and remarkably tempered. Several friends have inquired about her marital status. Naturally, I’ve kept that information to myself. I want to keep such an exceptional girl within our family.” Madison’s enthusiasm was palpable.

Caden forced a smile. “Mrs. Hopkins, you might be slightly behind. Alicia is already in a relationship.”

Madison’s smile faltered; dejection clouded her expression. “She’s seeing someone? Why didn’t Ms. Bennett mention it?”

“She values him greatly and prefers to keep it private.”

“Who keeps their treasure secret? Caden, you’re teasing me.” Despite sensing Caden’s seriousness, Madison remained determined. “If she’s keeping it quiet, she’s probably embarrassed. It’s probably just a fling. Cliff still has a chance.”

Caden was speechless. He’d often wondered about Gerry’s unique personality despite his prominent background. Now, the connection was clear—a classic case of mother and son sharing traits. He maintained his composure. “I’m not in a position to comment on Alicia’s relationship. Please mingle with your guests, Mrs. Hopkins. I’ll look after Cliff.”

Madison looked confused. “You’re helping Cliff… to win Ms. Bennett’s affection?”

“No,” Caden clarified. “I’m here to guide him towards doing the right thing and not jeopardizing someone else’s relationship.”

Madison was speechless.
