Chapter 87

The original divorce paper, bearing Christopher's personal signature? How was this possible?

"The vet signed anything? I haven't even seen the document!" Christopher shouted.

Startled by his roar, Larry finally snapped to attention, sighing before replying, "But the document is real, and the signature seems legitimate. You didn't call to clarify these past few days, so Mr. Fuller Senior assumed you agreed."

"No, I didn't! Why should I agree to a document I've never signed?" Christopher seethed, veins standing out on his clenched hand.

Larry furrowed his brow and hesitated before asking, "Could Mrs. Fuller have forged your signature?"

"Heh! Such a criminal act is exactly something she would do! She's got no brains!" Christopher growled with anger. "If the signature is fake, the divorce agreement has no legal validity. She's just trying to mess with me and Grandpa."

What did she take him for? A monkey in a zoo? How dare she play him like this!

Christopher was losing his grip on reason, his anger so intense that he almost wanted to search the whole city to find Melody.

On the other end, Larry, still processing the situation, said, "Mrs. Fuller wouldn't joke about divorce or forge documents."

"Why wouldn't she? She's been upset with me over Cynthia, and now she's gone this far!" Christopher snarled. "She's pulling that disappearing act again, taking out her SIM card, thinking I'll panic and beg her to stay. She's dreaming! Who does she think she is? She was the one who begged me to marry her in the first place!"

Hearing Christopher's furious curses, Larry was silent for several seconds before stating, "If Mrs. Fuller wanted to marry you in the first place, she's even less likely to seek a divorce. Once such a convincing document is mistaken for the real thing, there will be no turning back. So, Mr. Fuller… perhaps Mrs. Fuller truly wants to divorce you."

Christopher froze. His mind exploded with confusion. His fingers, gripping the phone, almost crushed it.

Melody loved him so much. She had worked hard to marry him, so she definitely wouldn't want a divorce. Even if pigs flew, she would never leave the Fuller family. Why would she forge his signature? If Daniel took it seriously, wouldn't that mean they would actually divorce? That would completely go against what Melody wanted.

"I get it," Christopher muttered through clenched teeth. "If she's daring enough to forge the signature, she must know the authorities won't approve it, so she's playing games with us while still planning to be Mrs. Fuller." His mind cleared. "Fine, Melody, I'll play along if you want to make this a big issue!"

A forged signature, was it? Then, he would give her a real one. He'd give her a grand farewell package just for her, so she could pack up and get out of the Fuller family for good. Christopher sneered coldly, his eyes dark with malice. Larry still tried to say something, but the call was abruptly disconnected.

Christopher had been so anxious on the phone in the dead of night. Initially, Larry had thought it was because he didn't want a divorce, but now it seemed like he was going for the divorce. Why the phone call then? Why bother finding Melody?

He shook his head, not understanding the younger generation, but since Christopher mentioned not having seen the document, it would be best to mention it to Daniel in the morning.

At the same time, in the president's office at Fuller Group, Christopher printed out a divorce agreement on the spot. Without looking at the contents, he signed it and took it home. Since Melody wanted it, he would give it to her. He wanted to see if she dared to come and take it.
