“Mom, please stop the flattery—there are people here,” Christina said uncomfortably. Then she asked, “Harvey, has the paperwork on the East Side redevelopment investment you mentioned been approved? What’s the status?”

Harvey smiled confidently. “You’re right, Christie. The documents are officially approved. I was planning to surprise you, but you beat me to it.”

“Does this mean my fifteen-million-dollar investment return is coming?” Irene asked excitedly. Leroy chimed in eagerly, “Harvey, don’t forget about me! I’m not as greedy as Mom—a few million will do. I’ll immediately buy a Bugatti and make someone’s cheap car look like trash.” He smirked pointedly at Andrew.

Andrew ignored Leroy, who was foolishly counting on the East Side investment money for a luxury car. In fact, Andrew thought, these two would be lucky to afford a meal when this was over.

Harvey said generously, “Don’t worry, Mrs. Stevens, Leroy. As promised, you’ll all profit nicely. Just wait for the money.”

Christina felt a surge of excitement. “Harvey, when will the payout be released?” Stevens Corporation desperately needed cash flow, having invested most of its liquid assets.

“According to our inside sources, the funds are being processed and could arrive any time,” Harvey said with a mysterious smile. “And guess what, Christie? The payout rate is two points higher than expected. Our returns will shock the entire Jayrodale investment community.”

“Harvey, my precious son-in-law!” Irene exclaimed joyfully. “You’re not just handsome, but brilliant! I can’t find words to describe how perfect you are!”

Christina smiled warmly. “Thank you, Harvey. You’ve really helped Stevens Corporation enormously.”

Harvey was incredibly pleased. Since returning home, everything he’d attempted had failed, but finally, he could hold his head high. He decided that as soon as the payout arrived and the Stevens family were singing his praises, he would propose to Christina.

Winning Christina wouldn't be easy. She consistently kept him at arm's length. He knew conquering her required skill and dedication, but he was determined to win her completely. He eagerly anticipated intimacy with her.
