Chapter 166
Harvey smirked coldly at Andrew, intent on belittling him. โAndrew, I offered you a chance to make some money. Too bad you didn't take it. Any regrets now?โ
The Stevens family members joined in with mocking laughter, vying for Harvey's favor.
One sneered, โDonโt waste your time on lost causes, Mr. Weller. Some people are destined to remain poor.โ
โNext time thereโs easy money, count me in, Mr. Weller! Unlike certain idiots, I wonโt refuse free money,โ another added.
โExactly! Just tell us and skip the losers!โ another chimed in.
โRemember calling us fools, Andrew?โ Irene gloated. โHow does it feel? Jealous?โ
Andrew laughed mockingly. โJealous of you all losing everything in this scam?โ
Leroy taunted, โClassic sour grapes. Just wait till the money comes inโIโll make sure to drive my new Bugatti past you.โ
โAndrew, this is a sure thing,โ Christina explained patiently. โMr. Thatcher met with major corporations, confirming Jayrodaleโs massive development plans.โ Andrew gave her a pointed look. โAnd youโre certain itโs the East Side? Not the West End?โ
Christina hesitated. โThe East Side is most likely, and Harveyโs family got early information. I donโt think thereโs any chance of a mistake.โ
Andrew said flatly, โItโs pointless to argue. Youโre all beyond help.โ
โAndrew, I donโt appreciate that attitude,โ Christina snapped. โWhy must you always oppose me?โ
Harvey chuckled. โUnderstandable, Christie. Andrewโs just trying to get your attention.โ
Christinaโs face fell. After finally seeing Andrew in a better light, her perspective soured again.
Just then, Francesca burst in, beaming. โDr. Lloyd, Grandpa just called! The development payouts have been released. Heโs treating you to dinner to thank you for helping the Aickers familyโwe made a fortune!โ
โThe moneyโs already been paid?โ Andrew asked, surprised.
Francesca gushed, โYes! Grandpa is overjoyed. Thanks to you, we made nearly thirty million dollars!โ
Irene, Harvey, and the others straightened at the sum.
โSo, the Aickers invested in the East Side development too?โ Harvey asked with a smug smile. โWell, you were late to the game. The Weller family secured most of the prime land. Still, thirty million is a decent consolation prize.โ
Francesca looked at him in confusion. โI have no idea what youโre talking about. We didnโt invest in that dump called the East Side.โ
Harvey froze, momentarily surprised, but quickly dismissed it, assuming she was playing games and didn't press further.
