Chapter 388
Easton furrowed his brow, anger flashing in his eyes. He thought, โDoes she dare bring up divorce again?โ
This time, Natalie wasnโt acting on a whim. The fury in her eyes showed she was serious about getting a divorce.
Murray chuckled and said, โMr. Garcia, donโt forget to go to the courthouse for the divorce at 9 a.m. tomorrow.โ He thought, โEaston is such a jerk. He doesnโt deserve to be with Natalie!โ
Easton raised an eyebrow and shot Murray a look. He said, โMr. Spencer, my family matters are none of your concern.โ
Murray replied, โEvery time you help others sabotage Natalie, is that what you call family? To you, sheโs less than an outsider. I donโt understand what youโre holding onto.
โHelping Jennifer set up Natalie while keeping Natalie around, Iโve never seen a worse jerk than youโwanting it all without any backbone. Youโre an embarrassment to men.โ
Murray wished he could knock some sense into Easton because he had seen how Easton protected Jennifer. Just the thought of it made his blood boil.
Eastonโs brows furrowed even more. He asked, โWhat do you mean by that? How could I be helping someone frame Natalie?โ
Murray let out a cold laugh. His tone was full of mockery as he said, โWould Jennifer dare to slander Natalie like that without your guidance? Without your plan, would those trolls swarm in like cockroaches?โ
Easton finally understood what Murray meant. He suddenly turned to Natalie. His voice was slightly hoarse as he asked, โIs that what you think too, Natalie?โ
Natalie wasnโt certain if Easton was involved in this, but Easton always put his all into anything Jennifer wanted to do.
Since Jennifer was pregnant, Natalie felt Easton should be responsible for Jennifer. The baby was innocent, after all. In Natalieโs previous life, her baby had already started kicking inside her, and the memory always brought her great joy.
However, in the end, like her inadequate self, it was crushed, leaving her with a heart-wrenching pain every time she recalled it.
Natalie said, โNo matter what I think, wasnโt a divorce always what you wanted?โ She felt helpless. It seemed no matter what she did, it was always wrong.
Easton suddenly grabbed Natalieโs hand.
Jacob quickly blocked Easton. He warned, โLet go. Donโt touch her.โ He was only 19 years old, yet his eyes were unusually dark at that moment.
Easton sneered, โDo you think you have what it takes to go against me? I funded half of your lab, so step aside.โ
Natalie was suddenly taken aback. She thought, โHow is he everywhere?โ
Jacob frowned, wondering why Easton was involved in the investment.
Natalie gently tugged on Jacobโs hand.
โNatalie,โ Jacob called out as he looked at Natalie worriedly. He was frustrated that he couldnโt protect Natalie right now.
Natalie gave Jacob a light smile and said, โItโs fine, you guys go back first.โ She thought, โThey donโt have the power to stand up to Easton. They are still in the process of growing. I canโt let them or their company suffer significant setbacks because of me. Eastonโs underhanded tactics for dealing with people often go unnoticed.โ
Maurice looked at her tenderly. He said, โNatalie, if you donโt want to go back with him, Iโll take you home. I promised James that I would protect you well.โ He glanced at Easton.
Easton just gave a cold smile.
Natalie shook her head and said, โMaurice, thanks for coming to help today, but donโt worry, Iโm really okay.โ
Seeing her decline, Mauriceโs eyes dimmed.
Natalie looked at Murray and said, โMurray, can you give Jacob a ride to the lab? Itโs hard to get a cab here.โ
Murray, feeling annoyed and helpless, could only agree, โAlright! Donโt worry, Iโll get him to the lab safely.โ He thought, โJacob has a good heart, leaving the lab to help Natalie. Itโs a rare and valuable friendship.โ
In tough times, those who help are like a true blessing, providing warmth in the coldest times. One only realizes this truth when one faces hardships oneself.
Natalie looked at Easton and said, โLet go, Iโll go with you.โ She thought it was a good time to clear things up.
But Easton didnโt let go of her; he pulled her into the car.
Three men watched helplessly as Easton took Natalie away.
Easton drove all the way home without stopping.
Easton was always arrogant and proud, looking down on everyone. In the business world, he was quite shrewd. In his personal life, he didnโt care about anyone except his grandparents and the person he valued most, Jennifer.
Even given a second chance at life, without the strength to match Eastonโs, Natalie still ended up under his control. From the moment she was transported back, she was exceptionally clear-headed.
Natalie buried those feelings deep down, never letting herself fall for Easton again. She never sought to win over a man of high status or power and never thought of taking shortcuts. She just wanted simple and genuine love.
But in Eastonโs eyes, Natalie was invisible. Even if Natalie went to Maurice for a partnership, she relied on her own ability. She planned to live a down-to-earth and steady life this lifetime.
She never thought about using anyone. Even if her path to the future was slower, it had to be what she desired. And there would be no place for Easton or the Simpson family in her future.
Natalie followed Easton to the living room and sat down as Easton tossed the car keys onto the coffee table, the noise echoing his frustration.
Natalie remained quiet. She knew Easton was always busy. Someday, heโd grow tired and weary, and she just needed to wait patiently. As he drifted away, she would gradually grow stronger.
Glaring at Natalie in anger, Easton demanded, โWhy are you asking for a divorce again? And by the way, I had nothing to do with todayโs incident.โ
He thought, โThat brat Murray accused me left and right with no proof. He always stirs up trouble and causes divisions.' Natalie furrowed her brow at Easton. She replied, โThen why donโt you agree to divorce? Jennifer called me and said she is pregnant with your child, telling me to step aside.
โI donโt want to get caught up in your issues, nor do I want to make things difficult for myself. So, letโs get divorced tomorrow morning. No matter what grudges exist between us, please treat the child well. The child is innocent.โ
Eastonโs deep eyes trembled in disbelief. He asked, โWhat did you say?โ He was shocked and surprised. The emotions in his deep eyes were difficult for Natalie to understand.
Natalie replied, โEaston, Iโm saying you and Jennifer have a child now. Divorce me. For the childโs sake, Vernon and Anne will accept Jennifer.โ She only wanted to live a good life and work hard to earn money.
Easton laughed sarcastically.
Natalie looked at him, puzzled. She asked, โEaston, why are you laughing?โ
Easton lowered his gaze. His deep eyes looked at Natalie coldly without saying a word. He had lived a simple life for over 20 years and had never been with any woman, yet he suddenly found himself with a child.
He spoke in a chilling tone, โI donโt agree to the divorce!โ
Natalie was furious at his shameless behavior. She said, โEaston, Iโve never seen such a shameless man like you. The woman outside even has a child. Why are you still clinging to me?โ
