Declan replied, “Jennifer, tell me what you need help with. You’re my sister, and I’d risk my life for you.”

Jennifer said softly with a smile, “Declan, you’re making it sound too serious. I’m not asking you to risk your life, just a small favor. Here’s the thing: I’ve come across a piece of land recently. It’s under Mr. Wright’s name, and since you and he are in the same circle, maybe you could help me buy it?”

Declan looked a bit troubled, especially since he lost last night. George not only won but even kicked Declan out of the group.

Declan said, “Jennifer, I’ve been kicked out because of Natalie. I lost the race to Mr. Wright last night, and she tricked me when I asked for her help. Mr. Wright won’t let me hang out with them, and Morn’s cut off my allowance. I can’t even come up with 300 thousand now.” He was getting angrier with every word, blaming everything on Natalie.

Jennifer was quite surprised, and her voice clearly showed her shock. She asked, “Declan, how did this happen? What’s Natalie done? Did she make Mr. Wright kick you out? How does she even know Mr. Wright?”

Declan remembered what happened last night and didn’t want Jennifer to find out he was such a weak brother. He said, “Natalie seduced Mr. Wright. Which piece of land are you thinking about buying?”

Jennifer replied, “It’s at the foot of the mountain in the south of the city. It’s the least valuable property Mr. Wright owns. Buying it now could be a good investment if it becomes a tourist spot in the future. A friend mentioned the scenery there is great.”

Declan was shocked. He thought, ‘Could it be that Natalie knows the land’s value would go up, and that’s why she deliberately gambled on it last night?’

He asked, “Jennifer, did you tell Natalie about this piece of land?”

Jennifer laughed and said, “I didn’t mention it to her. I heard from a friend that the place might become a tourist attraction, so I want to buy that piece of land. It might increase in value a lot. You know I’m busy filming and can’t return, so I need your help.”

Declan was shocked. He wondered why Natalie knew about this land. He said, “Jennifer, Natalie has already bought it. Mr. Wright came over personally to handle the paperwork this morning, and she must be done by now.”

Jennifer shouted, “What? Where did Natalie get the money to buy land? Did Easton give her money?” Her voice rose as if it were her money that had been taken.

Declan thought of Easton and said, “Jennifer, wait a bit. I’ll call Easton and have him give you the land for free.”

On the other end, Jennifer paused for a moment upon hearing this. She thought, ‘How could Declan have the nerve to expect Easton to give the land to me?’

After hanging up, Declan immediately called Easton.

“Hello,” Easton’s voice was still deep and calm.

Declan said, “Easton, here’s the thing: Natalie used your money to buy it, and it just so happens that Jennifer is interested in it, too. Does a country girl like Natalie know anything about real estate development? It would be better to give the land to Jennifer. You’ve always indulged Jennifer, giving her whatever she wanted since she was little. Once you divorce Natalie and marry Jennifer, the land will be a joint asset for you two.”

Easton was about to go to a morning meeting. Hearing Declan’s words, a sarcastic smile flashed in his eyes. He thought, ‘I can’t believe I fell for it, thinking Natalie was just some hick like these fools. True enough, hanging around with the clueless really rubs off on one.’

Easton replied, “Natalie didn’t use my money to buy any land. She left without taking anything. Didn’t Jennifer tell you?”

Easton’s voice was cold as ice, and even through the phone, Declan felt a chill down his spine. He was unsure which of his words had provoked Easton’s anger.

Confused, Declan asked, “Easton, could Natalie have secretly used your company’s money? Or maybe she took your bank card when she left?”

Easton said, “Declan, if your brain needs a jump-start, I suggest a cold shower. Natalie left directly from your Simpson family. I give Jennifer 1.5 million a month for spending; not a cent has gone to Natalie. There aren’t many ruthless people like you guys out there.” He added inside, ‘Only the Simpsons could be so cruel to their family.’

He continued, “Declan, Natalie has been good to you. When you were hospitalized with a high fever, none of your family wanted to stay with you. Only Natalie was willing to watch over you, caring for you day and night without leaving your side. Yet, is this how you treat her?”

Declan was taken aback. He had long forgotten about these things, not just this one Easton mentioned but others as well.

Declan said, “Easton, last night Natalie left me for dead. You saw it. I can’t acknowledge such a vicious sister. I’m trying to discuss something important with you now. Jennifer also wants that piece of land. Can you think of a way to get it? If we can’t buy it, Jennifer will cry again. You can’t stand seeing her cry, can you?”

Easton abruptly hung up the call.

Declan was stunned. He thought, ‘Easton has always doted on Jennifer, why did he suddenly hang up?’

Declan tried calling again, but Easton didn’t answer. Declan was shocked. He thought, ‘Has that fool finally come to his senses?’

Declan thought about those three days and nights when he was sick. Jennifer had to practice the piano, and he didn’t want to ask her to stay with him. But Natalie was different. She had been used to hard work since she was little. So Declan felt no guilt about having Natalie take care of him for three days straight.

Things didn’t work out with Easton, so Declan stood at the door waiting for Natalie. A few minutes later, he saw Natalie coming out with George. After George left, Declan quickly ran over and blocked Natalie’s way.

He looked at Natalie with a smug expression and commanded, “Natalie, Jennifer is interested in the piece of land you just bought. If you give it to her, I’ll go persuade Mom and Dad to let you back into the Simpson family.”

Natalie pressed her lips together slightly, looking at Declan like he was an idiot. She laughed softly as if she had just heard the funniest joke in the world.

She smiled and said, “Declan, are you out of your mind? Since it ties with the Simpson family, my life has been incredibly unhappy. Being part of your greedy family made me feel disgusted every morning when I woke up.”

Declan said, “Natalie, you… you’d better not be too arrogant. Without protection from the Simpson family…”

“Without the Simpson family’s protection, I’m doing just fine,” Natalie said casually.

Declan raised an eyebrow slightly. With a mocking smile, he said, “I heard you’re a designer now. What if I reported you as cruel and heartless…”

Natalie chuckled. With a look of arrogance, she interrupted Declan, “Declan, I told you last night, you could go announce it to the world. Besides, I have nothing to do with your family anymore, and I don’t want to see any of you again.” Her tone was casual, as if mocking Declan’s ignorance.

In the morning light, Natalie stood with a relaxed demeanor, exuding an aura that was both cold and captivating.

Declan really felt that Natalie had changed, becoming unreachable. He blocked Natalie’s path, saying, “No way, you’re not leaving today until you give that land to Jennifer.”
