Chapter 196

“You’re awake? Do you feel uncomfortable anywhere?”

Alaricka stiffly turned her eyes and looked at the nurse busy by her side. She slightly parted her lips, her voice hoarse: “How long was I asleep?”

“Seven or eight hours, it was already morning.”

Alaricka silently counted the numbers in her head and felt relieved after making sure she hadn’t missed the semifinals: “Nurse, can you get me a glass of water? I’m thirsty.”

The nurse gave a little smile and tucked her in. “Wait for me, I’ll be back soon.”

A few minutes later, the nurse helped her sit up in bed and handed her a cup of water.

She lowered her head and drank a whole glass of water before she finally caught her breath: “Thank you.”

The nurse pressed her lips together and said softly, “It’s nothing.”

As she spoke, she glanced carefully at the door, then looked at the other patients in the room, and said in a low voice, “Be careful, there were two really handsome guys who brought the police over. I think they’re here for you.”

Alaricka hummed and lowered her eyelids, “I know.”

The nurse’s eyes looked a bit complicated. She lowered her voice again, “Did something happen?”

It had already spread around the hospital. A few hours ago, two tall and handsome men had each carried a woman into the hospital. One of the women, who was younger, was unconscious and was being carried by a man with a really bad look on his face.

Another, slightly more handsome guy was holding a pretty, delicate woman in his arms, carefully helping her walk. They looked so perfect together.

The four of them came in at the same time. Their good looks caught everyone’s attention right away, and the dramatic vibe between them was so strong that in less than half an hour, the medical staff kept talking about those four people.

The nurse was really curious and just couldn’t help asking her.

Alaricka lived in a shared hospital room. She put her cup back on the nightstand, noticed the looks from the other patients and their families, and calmly lowered her eyes: “It’s nothing.”

The nurse, rebuffed, straightened up awkwardly, and said, “Then have a good rest. If you feel unwell, you can press the bell.”

Alaricka looked up and looked at her seriously, “Thank you.”

Looking at this pale but beautiful little face, and those big, bright, round eyes, there was a pitiful look everywhere.

The nurse felt a warmth in her chest and quickly said, “No need to thank me, it’s what we should do.”

The nurse went out, and in less than half a minute, the door of the ward was opened from outside, and noisy footsteps came.

Alaricka calmly looked up.

A male and a female cop, along with Kieran and Patrick, walked in from outside and stood by her hospital bed.

Alaricka looked closely at the two men’s faces.

After a night, Kieran and Patrick didn’t look any better. They still looked gloomy.

Alaricka sat up straight, straightened her back, and calmly looked at the two police officers: “Hello.”

The two cops were obviously stunned.

Actually, before they went to the scene, they already knew what had happened. A high school girl apparently pushed her crush’s girlfriend into the swimming pool because of some relationship issues.

They just came to look into this thing.

To be honest, when they first heard about it, the two cops didn’t think badly of Alaricka just because of what some people said when they called the police.

They had seen way too many people who cried wolf while being the wolf themselves. What they needed to do was tell right from wrong and find out the truth.

It was just that when they showed up, most people got really panicked and started talking all over the place. Usually, the officers had to calm them down before they could talk properly.

Especially those suspects who got reported to the police were even more panicked.

The girl in front of me was the suspect the caller talked about.

So young, with a beautiful little face that still looked really innocent, but her eyes were so calm and composed. She looked at them without any stage fright at all, even greeted them, like she didn’t notice they were cops at all.

After the policewoman was stunned, she just gave a faint smile and, wanting to comfort the person, gently asked, “Are you okay?”

Alaricka just said, “It’s fine. If you have questions, ask quickly. I’m in a hurry.”

The policewoman asked, “Anything else?”

Alaricka said, “I still had a really important match to go to.”

The policewoman’s face changed. “Really?”

The male cop was much more direct: “I checked, just to confirm, you’re Alaricka, right?”
