Listen to this chapter:

“The price for Montvue Tower had already been settled, and now they were just waiting for the signatures. I thought we should hurry and sign before Michael completely turned the Hall family upside down,” said Indya.

“How did the Bureau of Land Management respond?”

“The land was already planned long ago; they didn’t care. The Geological Survey did ask if we could conduct geological monitoring on the back mountain of Montvue Tower, but that was a matter for after signing.”

“Alright then, Montvue Tower must be secured within this month. The project team will be formed immediately. Maggie, you’re in charge.”

“Yes.”

Until noon, Jessica was looking forward to having lunch with Chris at the Wilder Group, especially since they were both working. It was quite a new experience. Previously, Chris always waited for her in the office. Shannon had long since ordered their favorite dishes, set to be delivered to the CEO’s office exactly at 12:20. Shannon was arranging the table.

“I’ve already seen the news, you don’t need to worry.” Jessica stood by the French window. Nina on the other side had been complaining for a long time, insisting Michael had bad intentions.

Nina said, “After my brother saw it, he regretted again not killing Michael or taking him down. Now, even Chris hates him.”

Jessica rested one hand against the window, looking at the newly constructed building across the street. A vague unease grew in her heart, but she endured it without telling Nina.

Hearing a knock at the door, Shannon went to open it, and Jessica turned to look. Chris came in.

Originally, Chris wanted Ashley to come along. After all, it was just lunch, and having Ashley there wouldn’t be a problem. But then he thought maybe Jessica just wanted to be alone with him. So he didn’t call anyone else, but ordered the food to be delivered to the meeting room. It wouldn’t be right for him to eat a fancy meal with his wife while everyone else downstairs ate boxed lunches. That would just be wrong.

Now that Chris was no longer short of money, he naturally ordered some expensive dishes.

“Well, I’ve got to go. Chris is here,” said Jessica as she hung up the phone.

“Nina?” Chris asked as he entered.

Shannon slightly bowed her head to Chris and then left.

“You saw Michael’s interview and you’re worried about me,” said Jessica.

That was obvious.

“How did your discussion go?” asked Jessica.

Chris replied, “You wouldn’t like to hear the professional details. I can only say that without commercial considerations, I’m confident about this surgery. It shouldn’t have any negative impact before the IPO.”

Jessica looked him over. “You’re really used to this now.”

There was no helping it. Having a strong businesswoman for a wife meant getting used to this kind of life.

Michael did not return directly to the Hall family after coming back to the country. He didn’t even go to the house Jessica had prepared. Instead, he took Jordan to Emerald Apartments. Only then did the Hall family realize Michael had so many properties in the country that they hadn’t even found out about.

“That kid, he’s really turning against us now. I can’t believe he has so many properties now!” Thomas shouted angrily, standing in the Hall family home.

Lynsey remained calm.

“Isn’t it a good thing that our son is talented? Why are you so upset?” asked Lynsey.

Thomas glanced at Lynsey. Since he didn’t see shock in her eyes, it meant his wife had known about this for a long time.

“Michael had been pretending to be obedient abroad all these years, following our arrangements. Actually, Aitairy belongs to him now, and we had no idea. Do you still think your son is talented?”

“Isn’t that the case?”
