Chapter 918

The two smiled sweetly in the photograph, hugging as if inseparable, as if nothing could come between them. It felt right. He belonged to her, and she to him. No one could stand in their way; they were each other's person.

Shortly after, he heard footsteps descending the stairs. Looking up, Alexander saw a figure in an unusual outfit: a large hooded jacket, baggy pants, and sunglasses covering half her face. She even wore a mask. Though nearly impossible to identify, the disguise made her even more striking.

"Are you sure you want to go out like this?" Alexander asked.

"Yeah. I've seen celebrities do it to avoid paparazzi!" Lily pulled up the zipper, feeling a little proud. Despite the heat, she'd spent a long time in the mirror, and she was unrecognizable. No one would know who she was. This way, she could shop peacefully with Alexander.

Alexander shook his head but said nothing. He wouldn't spoil her fun as long as she was happy. Howeverโ€ฆ

Lily seemed to have overlooked something. While she'd recently been in the spotlight, attracting reporters, Alexander would be the main attraction beside her. He was always a striking figure. Seeing them together at the mall would be a major scandal.

"Let's go!" she said enthusiastically, taking his arm.

His lips curled as he looked at his wife. She was adorable!

"What?!"

At the Russell Estate, Margaret's howl echoed.

"Are you saying that woman didn't even let you in?!"

"Exactly!" Celine's face was sullen, her eyes red, a handkerchief clutched in her hand. "I brought gifts. Alex is still my nephew. When I heard he was marrying, I wanted to congratulate them as his aunt. And that womanโ€ฆ she's not very popular, is she? I heard she wants to be the new president of the Perfumers' Society."

"That's just hearsay! It's not decided yet!" Margaret growled, banging her cane.

"But still! I heard voices inside. And if she was sick, why didn't the servant tell me immediately? Why check with her first? I know she didn't want to see me." Celine held the armrest of Margaret's chair. "Mom, it's a small thing, but I'm worried. This woman's temperamentโ€ฆ before she's even married into the family! She might be as stubborn as Alex's mother."

Margaret's face fell at the mention of Alexander's mother. She frowned.

"I told you not to mention that woman!"

"Right. Sorry, Mom. It slipped my mind. Maybe it was a misunderstanding. Maybe she really was sick. Forget it. I'll visit another day. I probably came at the wrong time."

"What do you mean?! You're an elder! No matter how sick she is, it's basic etiquette for her to greet you!" Margaret snorted, unhappy. "I didn't expect Mr. Lodge to raise such an ill-mannered granddaughter."
