Chapter 919
"Well, who would have expected that? I always thought the Lodge family was renowned, almost on par with us. I didn't expectโฆ"
Celine trailed off, sighing.
"The Lodge family is nothing compared to us!" a scrawny man with a light facial scar scoffed. "They only became famous for inheriting ancient kickboxing skills. Have they produced any notable figures in all these years? Even Wilfred's generation was a disappointment. That old man was like a turtle, hiding in his shell. He taught many disciples, always claiming he didn't kickbox to fight, but to stay healthy. Obvious weakness and lies! As for the younger generationsโฆ there's no need to mention them!"
He sat down. "Justin and Wilfred were cut from the same clothโcowards. I hoped Henry would be different, but he's even more useless! The Lodge family is hopeless. How can they compare to the Russells?"
Margaret nodded. "Yeah, Ralph is right. I never had a high opinion of her, honestly. I remember her visiting our house as a child; she was beautiful. It's a pity she's endured so much hardship. After her parents died, I heard little until she reappeared two years ago." Her impression of Lily was vague, stemming solely from Lily's childhood. Despite Lily's relationship with Alexander, Margaret's negative bias prevented her from considering Lily's current appearance.
"That woman has made quite a name for herself these past two years. Lawsuits, a love triangleโฆ I don't know what Alex sees in her. He could have any girl! Mom, I'm embarrassed to even discuss this with my friends!" Celine exclaimed.
"What's to discuss? She's not even a Russell," Margaret grunted.
"But they've gotten their marriage certificate. Everyone knowsโฆ" Celine said.
"So? As long as the Russell family doesn't accept her, she's not family! She'll never be my granddaughter-in-law!" Margaret declared, rising with her cane, eyes narrowed. "Celine, come with me to Alex's house tomorrow."
"You're coming?!" Celine asked, surprised.
"I want to see what's so special about that witch," Margaret said, disdain evident on her face. She wanted to see Lily for herself.
Then, turning to Ralph, she added, "Ralph, has Ms. Riggs been visiting these past two days? Make sure you keep her company and don't let your bad habits show."
"Mom, what bad habits? As a man, I'm entitled to my hobbies!" he retorted, dissatisfied.
