Chapter 340

Leonel leaned to lift the blanket, but his fingers encountered the soft fabric, and he realized something was wrong. Just as he turned, numbness seized his hips. He couldn't move. Fear gripped him; he struggled, but to no avail. His head was immobile; he could only look around.

He opened his mouth to scream, but numbness spread to his neck. His mouth remained open, yet no sound escaped. "Did I become mute?" The thought panicked him.

Lily, wanting to question him about the mastermind, planned to temporarily control him. However, anticipating his screams, she decided to control everyone's speech and movement individually, questioning them later.

Meanwhile, Christopher found Leonel's absence downstairs strange. He didn't believe Lily was an immediate threat but suspected outside help. He climbed the stairs, gun already drawn from its concealed hip holster.

"What the h*ll are you two doing? Come out now!" he shouted from the doorway. "I'm going to punish you if you don't come out this instant!"

Leonel, though conscious, remained speechless and immobile, his anxious eyes darting nervously. He had no idea what had paralyzed him, or who had done it.

"Jo? Leo?"

Christopher kicked the doorโ€”it wasn't properly closedโ€”his hand tightening on his gun, finger on the trigger. The room was silent, devoid of any struggle. The dim light revealed a figure in the shadows.

Squinting, he asked, "Leo?"

Instantly, the figure whirled, firing instinctively before seeing their target. Christopher's wrist exploded in pain; he dropped the gun. He tried to counterattack, but the opponent was too quick, darting behind him and kicking his knees. He heard a crack, fearing a broken bone, and slid to the ground despite his efforts. He turned, recognizing his attacker.

'It's her?' Shock and disbelief flooded his eyes. He couldn't believe he'd lost to someone so frail. He searched for others. 'She must have had help! It's impossible she did it alone!'

"Stop looking. There's no one else," Lily said, her head bowed, as if reading his thoughts. "No one will save you, even if you scream."

Christopher and Leonel were stunned; Jo slept soundly.
