Chapter 339
"Do you have the right to ask questions now?" Lily sneered as Jo felt the knife's point digging deeper into his flesh. The pain of the blade and the fear of imminent death softened his attitude.
"D-Don't do this! L-Let's talk it out!"
"Sure. Let's talk then. Who ordered you to do this?" Lily asked, tilting her head.
Earlier, in the car, Lily had sensed something was amiss. Lisa would have called beforehand if she'd had genuine problems. However, Lily couldn't reach Lisa, whose phone was ultimately turned off. This suggested Lisa faced a serious problem and should have contacted her father. It didn't make sense that she'd sought Lily's help instead. Therefore, Lily suspected they were there for her, not because Lisa was in trouble. She played along, intending to uncover the mastermind.
"We can't reveal our boss's identity," Jo said coldly.
"Wow, your professional ethics are impressive," Lily mocked, tapping his cheek with the knife. "Seems you don't care about your own life, do you?"
Jo merely pursed his lips. Lily saw his tense jaw and bulging veins, knowing he valued his life. However, revealing his employer would ruin his career. They both understood the industry's unwritten rules: employer confidentiality was paramount.
"You're not afraid of dying?" The knife sliced across his neck, making a shallow cut. Lily controlled her strength; the blade only broke the skin. This, however, was excruciatingly painful. Jo's expression shifted, betraying his pain, but he remained silent.
Lily was about to continue when she glanced toward the door and whispered, "Fine. Someone else will tell me, even if you don't!"
Before Jo could react, Lily struck him on the back of the head, knocking him unconscious. She then used a rope to securely bind him. He was too heavy to move easily, and time was pressing. Finding a blanket on the bed, she covered him.
Simultaneously, a knock came at the door.
"Jo, don't go overboard," Leonel, the driver, called out. He'd assumed Jo had been in the room too long and had harmed Lily. Even without further orders from their employer, it was best to avoid excessive force. Too much harm to Lily would be impossible to explain. Christopher, their leader, had sent Leonel to check on Jo.
Barefoot, Lily, knife in hand, stood rigidly by the door, her gaze fixed on it.
"Jo, Christopher told you to be gentle with the girl. If you're too rough, it'll be hard to explain to the boss. Jo."
Leonel knocked again, receiving no answer, and opened the unlocked door. The room was dimly lit, except for a bedside lamp. He immediately saw the lump under the blanket and laughed.
"Wow, this looks intense! Jo, don't be too rough on the girl!" But instead of stopping Jo, Leonel moved closer to watch. "Jo, I'm talking to you. Jo"
