Chapter 1784
โI believe youโre capable, and I believe you can do it!โ he cheered softly.
โItโs just that our strength is limited, and we shouldnโt be the only ones carrying this burden.โ Lily leaned back slightly, creating some distance, and stared at him wide-eyed. She was startled.
โWhatโs wrong?โ Alexander gently released her shoulders.
โAm I wrong?โ
She shook her head. โNo! I just didnโt expect you to agree with me!โ Her spirits lifted, excitement blooming within her.
โThereโs something I didnโt tell you, but you must promise not to get angry.โ Seeing her serious expression and pointed finger, Alexander raised an eyebrow, smiling. โOh? Tell me!โ
โNo, you have to promise you wonโt be angry first!โ
They had promised, early in their relationship, never to keep secrets from each other and always to discuss things openly. Later, she had been worried and angry when heโd faced danger in Burnwken without informing her; their agreement had been re-emphasized upon their reunion. This time, however, she was the one whoโd broken the promise. Naturally, she felt guilty.
Alexander understood her apprehension, finding it amusing. To lighten the mood, he feigned consideration. โBut if you donโt tell me, how will I know if Iโll get angry? Besides, it seems like only yesterday someone mentioned we shouldnโt hide things and should always have open discussionsโฆโ
โI admit Iโm wrong! So, do you want to hear it or not?โ She pursed her lips, a slight whine in her voice.
Alexander sighed softly. He wanted to tease her a little longer, but she wouldnโt allow it. Her childish demeanor instantly softened his heart. He pinched her cheek, saying dotingly, โOkay, I wonโt get angry!โ
Lily burst into laughter. Of course, she knew he wouldnโt be angry, but his reassurance held significant weight.
โDr. Blanc called me two days ago,โ she began solemnly.
Alexander nodded. โYou told me.โ
โYes, but thereโs a part I didnโt mention. I was testing the waters and discovered he knew about this mysterious organization. However, itโs a secret; itโs inappropriate to make it public,โ she said, lowering her voice.
โHuh?โ
Seeing his raised eyebrow and silence, she continued, โLater, I told him I knew about them too, and he was surprised. Since we both knew, we exchanged information. The organizationโs existence is known, even to those in power. Theyโre incredibly clever, though, constantly moving before authorities can catch them.โ
โTheyโve gained some ground, but the government doesnโt realize how powerful their ace is, due to the weapon they possess. Thatโs why they havenโt acted rashly; theyโre afraid of alarming them.โ She carefully recounted Dr. Blancโs words.
โSo, Iโm not fighting alone!โ
