Chapter 1585

Dominic chuckled. "Why? Don't you miss your son? Giving him the cold shoulder, huh?"

"The pandemic is worse than we imagined," she said thoughtfully. "Although I'd take every safety precaution, better safe than sorry." She had no mood for jokes; she hadn't been in the mood lately. The virus's spread would be catastrophic if they couldn't contain it.

"Okay." Dominic knew; he'd just been teasing. He stopped, however, sensing her seriousness. "Then do what you think is necessary. Actually..." He paused, then chuckled. "Nothing. You'll know when you're here."

Lily was puzzled. He reminded her, before hanging up, "Be punctual, okay? Time is precious for them, too!"

This was highly unusual. Dominic, famous in herbal medicine, had become somewhat arrogant, flattered for years. As a leading figure, he rarely met anyone, let alone took meetings seriously. Intrigued, Lily decided to rush back.

As she was leaving, she saw Greg returning. He washed his hands with disinfectant and sprayed himself with alcohol upon enteringโ€”a testament to his meticulous nature. Though uncouth, he was surprisingly detail-oriented and heeded her advice. Lily didn't detail the pandemic, simply instructing him to sanitize upon entering and exiting. He obeyed without question.

She felt indebted to Alexander for his insightful recommendation; his friends were trustworthy and reliable. "Greg, I'll be out for about four hours. Stay here and call me if anything happens, okay?"

She was direct. Greg simply nodded, asking nothing. "Okay."

Seeing him change shoes and clothes, preparing for final disinfection, Lily stopped him. "Wait!"

He readily stood still, offering his hand. Lily was surprised. He was used to this; she checked his pulse daily. Finding it steady and strong, she noted, 'He's in excellent shape.'

"Do you want to draw my blood again?" Greg asked.

"No, your report's out. I have questions, but I must go. We'll talk later," she said, withdrawing her hand. "Thank you so much."

Blushing, the usually quiet Greg began to speak, then stopped, holding up his hands.

"Hey, what are friends for?" Lily chuckled. 'What an innocent person.' He made it seem insignificant, but such friends were rare.

Knowing time was precious, she hurried, donning a hat, mask, and sunglasses. Though in a suburb of Kingsland, she avoided being recognized.
