Chapter 1584

Lily had been exhausted since yesterday. Alexander's unstable condition, coupled with the need for confidentiality and virus containment, had led her to insist only a doctor and two nurses, in addition to herself and Greg, attend to him. She was puzzled by Greg's continued good health, given his prolonged close contact with Alexander. She urged him to prioritize his own safety, while remaining cautious herself.

From Alexander's pulse, she deduced the virus was capable of rapid evolution and concealment, explaining his seemingly recovered state followed by sudden hemorrhaging. She exercised extreme care when handling his blood. The swift spread of the pandemic in Burnkwen now made chilling sense. The small nations there were in chaos, and Hyderland had sealed its borders. Without a solution or effective protection, the consequences were unthinkable.

Leaving the ward, Lily felt only slightly better after confirming Alexander's temporary stability; his condition remained precarious. After decontamination, she removed her protective gear, cleaned herself again, and passed through the multiple quarantine zones, ensuring safety. She was grateful for Alexander's loyal bodyguards; otherwise, navigating this would have presented numerous challenges.

Their presence brought Edward to mind. She suspected something terrible had befallen him, yet refused to accept it without confirmation. It was a tragedy neither she nor Alexander, let alone Olivia, wished for.

Changing into casual clothes, she checked her phone, finding numerous missed callsโ€”most surprisingly, from Dominic. His infrequent calls were well-known, so this volume alarmed her. She immediately suspected Galen's involvement and returned his call.

"Old man, what happened?"

"Hey, you finally answered! Can you come over?" Dominic asked.

"Did something happen to Galen?" Lily asked, her grip tightening on the phone. "Huh?"

Dominic, momentarily stunned, recovered. "No, that little tyke's thriving! He'd be fine even if my house collapsed!"

Relieved, Lily sighed. "So?"

"I have two people I want you to meet. When are you free? They're busy too."

He wants me to meet someone? Dominic rarely goes out, hates socializing, and knows my circumstances. These must be extraordinary people.

"I'm free later." Checking her watch, she added, "How about two hours?"

"Okay, I'll tell them. Just be careful!" Dominic said. As he began to disconnect, Lily called out, "Wait!"

"Yes?"

Lily hesitated. "I'll be in a clean hazmat suit. Please relocate Galen; don't let him see me."
