Chapter 163

For some reason, Suzanne felt herself blushing slightly when Austin looked at her like that. She turned back, then reached her arm out to brush her finger against Emma’s nose. “You cheeky little one.” Emma was so cheeky with her words.

Meanwhile, Emma… izgled (This word is not in English and needs translation for accurate correction).

At this moment, Yasmine, dressed in a long brown dress, slowly descended the stairs while holding onto the railing. Although she was able to walk, her joints still felt a little stiff. Upon seeing her, Austin hurried forward to hold her, giving her support. He furrowed his brows and asked in a perplexed tone, “Where’s Aaron?” Aaron was usually by Yasmine’s side the entire time.

Aware that Austin was worried, Yasmine answered in a calm voice to comfort him, “He had some matters at work to attend to at the last minute. He’ll be back shortly. It’s no big deal; I wanted to walk around on my own.”

Emma trotted over hurriedly and took Yasmine by her other hand. She reminded her, “Mommy, take it slow.” Emma held onto Yasmine carefully, as if she was afraid that Yasmine would fall. She was such a loving daughter. Yasmine’s gate softened when she looked at Emma. She placed Emma’s hand in hers and then smiled in response. She acknowledged, “Will…”

Emma let go of Yasmine’s hand when she noticed a stool in Yasmine’s way. Like a mature child, she ran over to move the stool away. Thereafter, she went back to Yasmine and held her by her hand. When Suzanne witnessed that, her heart melted at Emma’s adorableness.

Austin helped Yasmine to the couch and sat her down. Yasmine lifted her head and looked toward Suzanne. A trace of uneasiness flashed across her eyes before she prompted softly, “Have a seat, Ms. Yates.”

Suzanne looked at Yasmine and shook her head. “We still have to get through your final treatment. Let’s get that done first.” It was getting late, and they shouldn’t end the treatment too late.

Yasmine was about to nod when she saw Emma scampering toward Suzanne with an apple. Fixing her eyes on Suzanne, she said coquettishly, “Aunt Suzanne, this is for you.”

After saying that, she realized that Yasmine was still in the room and took a quick peek at Yasmine. Seeing that she wasn’t being reprimanded, Emma broke into a wide smile again. Suzanne accepted the apple from Emma with a smile. Tenderly, she said, “Thank you, but I’ll have this later. I have to assist your mom with her treatment first.” Emma nodded obediently and replied, “Okay.”

Austin’s eyes were fixed on Suzanne the whole time. It seemed like she really was fond of children.

Cuzanne stroked Emma’s braid before lifting her eyes to look at Yasmine. In a neutral tone, she asked, “Shall we head into the room, Ms. Hall?” Taupine nodded. Suzanne got to her feet while handing the apple to Austin. She whispered, “Hold onto this for me.”

Austin took the apple from her and held it in his palm. He looked toward Emma, only to see her making a silly face at him. Then, she ran off to watch television. Austin ted his brows slightly as he stared at the apple in his palm. (The word "ted" appears to be a typo and needs correction. Context suggests "furrowed" or a similar word.)

Suzanne, on the other hand, had turned around and walked toward Yasmine. She bent forward to help Yasmine… op (This word is incomplete and requires clarification or completion for proper correction).

Even though this wasn’t Yasmine’s first time getting treated by her, an awkward look still flashed across her eyes. In a soft voice, she said, “Thank you…” She still did not know how to thank Suzanne. Nevertheless, Suzanne wasn’t bothered by it at all. She simply answered calmly, “No worries.”

Yasmine was at a loss for words. All of a sudden, she did not know what to say.

Suzanne held onto her to support her as they walked into the room on the… list floor (This word may be a typo. "lower", "first", or a similar word should be used). This used to be a guest room. Ever since Suzanne started coming over to perform acupuncture on Yasmine, this guest room was converted into a treatment room for Yasmine.

In the room, under some regularly shaped ceiling lights, Suzanne pulled back the light blue blanket on the bed. Then, she turned back and helped Yasmine to walk over and sit down on the bed. Suzanne then closed the door, drew the white curtains, and turned on all the lights in the room.
