Chapter 162

Suzanne smiled shortly. When she first met this man, she had always been on edge around him. But now, she found that he wasn’t as cold as he seemed. Talking to him was surprisingly easy. They ended up chatting for half an hour. By then, Austin had eaten most of his meal.

Suzanne glanced at his plate, the corners of her lips curling slightly; he must have been really hungry.

Taking another sip of wine, Austin looked at her and said, “We’ve been married for a while now. Shouldn’t you take me to meet your family?”

Gabriel had mentioned that she visited the Frost family today. He had heard her grandparents and uncle treated her well. But she had never brought up her maternal family to him.

Suzanne’s eyes flickered with surprise before her expression darkened slightly. Bring Austin to meet Henry? As if Henry even deserved that. If Henry ever found out about Austin, he would cling to him like a leech. Suzanne had no intention of letting that happen.

After a brief pause, she asked, “Can we wait a little longer?”

Austin’s hand holding the wine glass stilled for a moment before he gave a slight nod. “Alright. I’ll wait for you.” He didn’t press the matter further and instead casually continued their conversation. The atmosphere, which was once tense, gradually became lighter and more relaxed. Suzanne finished her glass of wine. When she stood up, she realized she was slightly tipsy.

Austin frowned with a look of concern on his face. “Stay still. I’ll help you upstairs.”

She shook her head, but the moment she took a step forward, her footing wavered. Austin put down his glass and stepped forward, taking her hand in his. “Be good. Listen to me.” He was worried she might stumble and hurt herself.

She was only a little tipsy, and she didn’t feel anything else unusual. Looking at Austin’s firm grip on her hand, she chuckled lightly and nodded. “Okay.”

Hand in hand, they walked slowly toward their bedroom. That night, perhaps because of the wine, Suzanne slept soundly.

Aaron and Yasmine had bought their villa after their marriage, making it a cozy home for their small family of three. Though only a few people lived there, the space felt warm and inviting. The interior was elegant yet modern, with soft cream tones accented by muted green, gold, and white, creating an open yet sophisticated atmosphere. A curved, oversized couch sat in the living room, paired with a uniquely shaped glass coffee table framed in gold—a subtle touch of luxury. A massive TV hung on the wall, and it was currently playing a cartoon show.

As soon as Suzanne and Austin stepped inside, they saw a little girl sprawled over the coffee table. She was sitting on a fawn-shaped stool, completely engrossed in the animation. Hearing movement, Emma lifted her head and turned toward the entrance. The moment she spotted them, her eyes lit up with excitement.

“Uncle Austin! Aunt Suzanne!”

Realizing her mistake, she quickly clamped her tiny hands over her mouth, worried Yasmine might hear. But even as she silenced herself, the joy in her eyes remained. She hopped down from her stool, her short legs carrying her swiftly toward Suzanne.

Suzanne’s heart melted at the sight. Smiling warmly, she bent down and opened her arms, catching the little girl in a tight hug. “Oh, you missed me?” she asked with a laugh.

Emma nodded eagerly and planted a soft kiss on Suzanne’s cheek before leaning in and whispering, “I even dreamed about you last night.”

Suzanne chuckled, intrigued. “Oh? What did you dream about?”

It was just a casual question. But Emma giggled mischievously and glanced between Suzanne and Austin. “Aunt Suzanne was a bride, wearing a beautiful wedding dress as she married Uncle Austin.” Suzanne paused for a moment before instinctively looking at Austin, only to see him arch an eyebrow as amusement flickered in his eyes.
