Chapter 669
As Sebastian and Richard descended the stairs, they saw Stephanie standing motionless by the doorway. She held a spoon loosely in her hand, oblivious to the soup dripping onto the table. Her eyes were vacant.
Sebastian strode towards the dining area. โWhat are you staring at?โ
โUm, Sofia probably went to confront Elena,โ Stephanie snapped back to reality, her gaze shifting to Sebastian. Facing Sofiaโs fiery temper, few could react in time.
โThe thing is, last nightโs incident wasnโt Danโs doing,โ Stephanie sighed. โSeriously, why couldnโt it have been Dan? But if it wasnโt him, then who was it? If Elena just found some random guy, then itโs really over. Knowing Sofia, sheโll tear Elena apart.โ
โIt wasnโt Dan?โ Sebastianโs eyes flickered towards Richard as he spoke.
At that moment, Richardโs expression was a mixture of emotions, difficult to decipher.
โYeah, Dan was with his subordinates last night. He never went looking for Sofia.โ
โThen why would she go find Elena?โ Sebastian inquired.
โElena must hold a grudge against Sofia because of Danโs recent attitude,โ It was clear Sofia suspected Elena was behind last nightโs event.
Sebastian and Richard remained silent. Stephanie chatted enthusiastically, oblivious to the turmoil in Richardโs heart. He was utterly speechless.
Seeing Sofia like this, Stephanie knew she would tear apart anyone involved with last night. Theodore was right. No one could escape her wrath.
โOh, Richard, what brings you here?โ Stephanie finally noticed Richard. Her jaw dropped. She wished she could take back her words. Even though he was only Sofiaโs husband by name, there were still things he shouldnโt know.
Richardโs face remained grim. Ignoring Stephanie, he looked at Sebastian and said, โIโll be going then.โ
โOkay,โ Sebastian nodded.
Richard left.
Sebastian gently ruffled Stephanieโs hair as she snuck a glance at the doorway where Richard had disappeared. โWhy didnโt you warn me? Did I say anything I shouldnโt have?โ
Sebastian replied, โNo.โ
โThatโs good,โ Relieved, Stephanie stopped worrying.
Sebastian filled a bowl of soup for her. โWhy does Sofia think it was Elena? Itโs a big leap from Dan, isnโt it?โ
Stephanie took a sip of soup. โUgh, itโs all because of that Dan. He refused to admit that he was the one last nightโฆโ
โAnd?โ he asked. In his eyes, Sofia wouldnโt believe him just because he denied it. That didnโt sound like her, especially now that she had lost all trust in him. She wouldnโt believe a word he said at this point.
โAt first, Sofia didnโt believe him either. But then Dan fainted from anger,โ Stephanie said, โHis men must not have known the phone was still connected, because they started cursing Sofia and saying Dan was with them all night.โ
Sebatianโs eyes narrowed. He put a piece ofโฆ (The sentence is incomplete and unintelligible).
โWell, if it wasnโt then, it must have beenโฆโ (The sentence is incomplete and unintelligible).
โThink about it. Dan metโฆ (The sentence is incomplete and unintelligible).
To Sofia and Stephanie, it was clear thatโฆ (The sentence is incomplete and unintelligible).
Sebastianโs eyes darkened at her words. No one could tell what he was thinking, but his thoughts wereโฆ (The sentence is incomplete and unintelligible).
โThere wonโt be a third person involved in thisโฆโ (The sentence is incomplete and unintelligible).
Sebastian pinched her cheek playfully. โLiving in Long Harbor for two years has made you quite a detective?โ
โOuch!โ Stephanie glared at him. โIโm just stating the facts. From her analysis, that was exactly how it was.โ
However, the matter wouldnโt end there. Whether it was Danโs revenge or Elenaโs scheme, things would not end easily. No one who offended Sofia could walk away unscathed.
Suddenly, a strange smell wafted over, making Stephanie feel nauseous. She quickly covered her mouth.
Sebastian frowned. โWhatโs wrong?โ
โSomething smells bad. I feel like Iโm going to throw up.โ
Upon hearing that, Sebastian quickly signaled to the maid.
The maid understood and immediately brought Stephanie a glass of lemonade. Stephanie was particularly sensitive to smells now, and the kitchen had been extra careful with what they cooked. They didnโt expect that something would still upset her stomach.
Sebastian took the glass and held it to Stephanieโs lips. โTake a sip.โ
Lemons were good for pregnant women. They could mask those smells that pregnant women couldnโt stand. After taking two sips, Stephanie felt much better. โMuch better.โ
Sebastian put down the glass. His eyes fell on a dish of fish that the maid had just brought in. His gaze darkened. โNo more fish on the table.โ
โHuh? Fish?โ Stephanie was puzzled. She didnโt see any fish just now and had no idea when it was brought in.
Sebastian was incredibly observant. Stephanie hadnโt felt nauseous at all during dinner, but as soon as the fish arrived, she felt sick.
The maid turned pale. โIโIโm sorry.โ
โEveryone who worked in the kitchen today gets a three-day pay cut.โ
โYes, sir,โ the maid said, not daring to say another word.
โItโs not a big deal. You-โ Stephanie started.
โThe kitchen received your list of food restrictions a long time ago.โ
Sebastian would never tolerate such a careless mistake. He could forgive them if they didnโt know, but it was a different story if they messed up knowing full well.
โHow are you now?โ
โI am feeling better now. Tell Elliot to keep an eye on Sofia.โ
Elena was Danโs fiancรฉe, so her family background was not to be underestimated.
Sebastian said, โDan wouldnโt dare to cause any trouble, let alone Elena.โ
Stephanie agreed. After watching that video and seeing how badly Dan and his people got beaten up, as long as they were in Fiorenza, Sofia would definitely come out on top. Thinking of this, Stephanie felt a lot more at ease.
Earlier, Sebastian had penalized the kitchen staff. That afternoon, the butler held an emergency meeting. Stephanie could finally enjoy a decent meal, and they couldnโt afford to mess up again. Everyone in the Giovanni residence knew that Stephanie held a special place in Sebastianโs heart.
After lunch, Stephanie felt a wave of drowsiness wash over her.
Sebastian sat on the living room sofa, reviewing some urgent documents. Stephanie rested her head on his lap, drifting off to sleep.
Looking down, Sebastian saw her pouting slightly, her eyelids fluttering shut. The serenity of the moment brought a tender smile to his lips. โSleepy?โ
Stephanie responded, โMmโhmm.โ
Sebastian tucked a stray strand of hair behind her ear and glanced at the butler.
The butler understood and immediately had someone bring a blanket. By the time the blanket reached Sebastian, Stephanie had already fallen asleep. He gently covered her with it.
