Chapter 668

Back at the hospital, the more Dan thought about it, the angrier he became. Whatโ€™s more, he felt wronged. Even if he didnโ€™t want to admit it, he knew he was being framed.

He couldnโ€™t understand why Richard would run away. The thought of Sofia and Richard together last night made Danโ€™s breath quicken. He wished he could rush over to Richard right now and tear him to shreds.

Sofia sneered when she heard Danโ€™s words: โ€œOh, Dan. I never realized you were such a scumbag! You can dish it out, but you canโ€™t take it? You coward!โ€

Dan stammered, โ€œIโ€ฆโ€

โ€œYou slept with me and donโ€™t have the guts to admit it. Now, you are trying to throw Richard under the bus? Nice try,โ€ Sofia fumed, thinking Dan would be happy if she and Richard fought against each other.

At that moment, Richard entered from outside, just in time to hear Sofiaโ€™s words. His face was a mixture of complicated emotions.

โ€œI swear, I didnโ€™t sleep with you!โ€ Dan was getting desperate. This was turning into a disaster.

โ€œYou donโ€™t want to admit it, fine. It doesnโ€™t matter anyway. Iโ€™m not gonna let you off the hook,โ€ Sofia said. Originally, she was already furious at Dan for faking his death. Now, with this happening, she was even angrier at herself for falling for him.

Hearing this, Dan was a little annoyed. โ€œAre you crazy, Sofia? Why donโ€™t you go after the person who actually assaulted you? Whatโ€™s the point of clinging onto me?โ€ Seeing that he couldnโ€™t explain himself clearly, Dan started arguing with Sofia over the phone.

Because of his faked death, Sofia didnโ€™t believe him at all. โ€œKeep making things up.โ€

Richard looked away.

The butler saw him and bowed respectfully. โ€œMr. Casalini.โ€

โ€œWhere is Sebastian?โ€

โ€œIn the study, sir.โ€

โ€œOkay, Iโ€™ll go find him,โ€ Richardโ€™s voice was low.

Neither Sofia, who was arguing with Dan on the phone, nor Stephanie, who was focused on Sofia, saw Richard.

Richard touched his nose and went upstairs to find Sebastian with a strange expression.

Dan gritted his teeth and said, โ€œSofia, you stupid woman! Do you have rocks in your head or something? I told you I wasnโ€™tโ€”โ€ He wondered who it was that slept with Sofia. Heโ€™d tear that bastard to pieces.

Before he could finish his sentence, another voice came from the phone: โ€œSir, you canโ€™t get excited now, calm down, this is the ICU. Hey, sir, are you okay? Sir! Somebody! The man fainted!โ€

Both Sofia and Stephanie were speechless. The speakerphone wasnโ€™t quiet. Stephanie could clearly hear Dan faint from anger.

Suddenly, the phone erupted in chaos. Danโ€™s men could be heard yelling at Sofia.

โ€œThat witch, Sofia, is a plague!โ€

โ€œI really want to go kill that witch right now. Look what she did to Mr. Murry!โ€

On the phone, Danโ€™s men grew angrier. They wished they could kill Sofia to avenge Dan.

Sofia and Stephanie stared at each other. Stephanie could see the corners of her mouth twitch.

Sofia hissed and hung up the phone. She looked at Stephanie. โ€œIt wasโ€ฆ contestedโ€ฆ weโ€ฆ karowโ€ฆ wants?โ€

Stephanie trailed off, surprised that Dan might not be the one who slept with Sofia. She mused about who knew Sofia well. Everyone in Florence knew her. Would anyone dare do this after seeing it was Sofia?

Sofia shook her head. โ€œNo, they wouldnโ€™t dare!โ€

โ€œExactly,โ€ Stephanie said, โ€œThey wouldnโ€™t dare. So, either this is Dadโ€™s revenge for you marrying Kahari, or someone is deliberately targeting you.โ€

Sofia thought for a moment. โ€œBut I just heard from Danโ€™s men that he was with them all night. So it wasn't Dan last night.โ€

If so, this might be a big deal.

โ€œThen thereโ€™s only one possibility left,โ€ Stephanie concluded. โ€œSomeone is targeting you.โ€

Sofia frowned because no one in Florence would dare target her.

Stephanie said, โ€œWhoever it is, they must hate you to risk their life to target you like this.โ€ Stephanie couldnโ€™t imagine anyone in all of Fiorenza daring to target Sofia so brazenly. If they were risking their life, then they must truly despise her.

โ€œHate me?โ€ Sofia was confused.

Stephanie asked, โ€œIs there any other reason?โ€

โ€œBut there are a lot of people in Fiorenza who hate me,โ€ Sofia thought about all the people who disliked her. They must all hate her.

Stephanie said, โ€œThose people are just jealous of you. Thatโ€™s not the same as hate!โ€

Sofia nodded. Stephanie was right. Those people were just jealous. They wouldnโ€™t actually want her dead. โ€œSo youโ€™re saying that if it wasnโ€™t Dan, then it was someone who wants me dead that set me up?โ€

Stephanie said, โ€œBack in Long Harbor, Olivia always used these kinds of tricks on me.โ€ All she saw in Long Harbor were schemes cooked up by the innocent-looking Olivia.

โ€œSomeone who hates meโ€ฆ Someone who wants me deadโ€ฆโ€ Sofia muttered, trying to figure out who could possibly hate her that much. Instead of feeling guilty about beating Dan up, she focused on figuring out who else wanted her dead.

Suddenly, someone flashed through her mind. โ€œWait, I got it!โ€

Stephanie asked, โ€œWho?โ€

Sofia waved her hand dismissively. โ€œWho was it again? Elena, yeah!โ€

Stephanie echoed, โ€œElena?โ€

Sofia nodded. โ€œYeah! Dan has been chasing after me nonstop, so Elena, his fiancรฉe, must hate me.โ€

Sofia fumed inwardly, You witch! If Dan wronged you, you should go cry to him, not take it out on me! Thinking about it now, the beating Dan got this morning doesnโ€™t seem so unfair. Itโ€™s all because of him anyway!

Stephanie said, โ€œThatโ€™s highly possible.โ€

Enraged, Sofia shot up, knocking her chair over with a loud thud. The thought that Elena might be behind it all fueled Sofiaโ€™s anger. โ€œIโ€™m gonna go give that woman a piece of my mind!โ€ She was fuming, unable to let it go, not even for a minute.

Before Stephanie could react, Sofia grabbed her jacket and rushed towards the door, picking the gun up when it fell to the floor.

Stephanie stammered, โ€œUhโ€ฆโ€

With a loud slam, the door shut behind Sofia. She was on fire, and her fury was palpable. No one dared to stop her.
