Chapter 660
Theodore looked at Richard, pale as a ghost. He didnโt even have the energy to say anything and just hung up the phone.
โRichard, you heard that, right? Not just a bunch of people; she brought weapons too,โ he said.
They really had no idea what happened after they left, but whatever it was, it made Sofia think Dan was responsible.
โYou saw how Sofia reacted to what went down last night,โ Theodore added, drawing a line across his neck. That was how serious she was. Someone was going to die.
Richard had nothing to say. All that fire he had about clearing things up with Sofia started to fizzle out fast. His face twisted like heโd just swallowed a bug.
Theodore could see the guy was feeling like crap, and just as he was about to try and say something to help, Albert came out and grabbed Richard. โLook, I get it; that kind of hits your pride as a man,โ he said while dragging Richard back inside. โBut who says being a man means you donโt get to care about staying alive?โ
Theodore nodded like mad. โYeah, man, screw pride. If this were any other woman, sure, you step up and take responsibility. But is that what Sofia wants? No, she wants a body count.โ
Bottom line, there was no way in hell they could admit to anything.
Lancelot nodded too. โYeah, between pride and living, Iโll take living.โ
Richard was so pissed that his chest actually hurt. โYou think Iโm scared to die?โ he snapped.
Theodore, Albert, and Lancelot answered in sync, โWe are.โ And they meant it. They were genuinely scared.
Richard had nothing more to say. Theodore and the others were dead serious.
โThis isnโt some joke,โ Theodore said. โThe guy on the phone literally said she rolled out with a whole crew looking for Dan.โ
So if Sofia ever found out everyone involved in what she believed was her assault, she wouldnโt spare a single one of them.
Sofia and Richardโs mess blew up before anyone even figured out what was going on.
Over at Lorenzoโs place, Ella was still out of it when she heard Cecil outside saying, โLorenzo, how the hell did your wound get this bad?โ
Then Bernard chimed in, โDonโt tell me Ella did something to you again after we left.โ
โIโm telling you, sheโs gotta be some undercover agent from Dark Portal. Sheโs obviously trying to take you out. Just look at how messed up your injury is.โ The more he talked, the more hyped up he got.
Cecil snapped, โShut it.โ
But Bernard wouldnโt back down. โIโm just saying what everyone else is thinking. But seriously, this girlโs weird. If she really wanted you dead, why not just do it while youโre asleep? Whatโs with all the fake innocent crap?โ
Ella was speechless. Fake innocent? Seriously? Back in Long Harbor, when Olivia pulled that manipulative crap on Stephanie, Ella couldnโt stand it. And now, somehow, people thought she was pulling the same stunt on Lorenzo.
She swore to herself, โI swear to God, Iโm not like that.โ
Cecil asked, โYou really think someone could kill him in his sleep?โ
And Bernard shot back, โExactly, so sheโs going the sneaky route.โ
The more Bernard talked, the more convinced he became that Ella was behind all of Lorenzoโs injuries, using underhanded tricks to slowly break him down, like she was plotting his death piece by piece.
Cecil muttered, โYour IQโฆ,โ but didnโt even bother finishing. He had no words left for Bernardโs stupidity. Finally, he told him, โGet lost,โ worried Bernard was about to push Lorenzo over the edge with his big mouth.
Inside, Ella moved just a little and groaned, โUgh.โ It was bad. Everything hurt like hell. That tiny shift made her realize her leg was completely out of commission, and her whole body ached.
Outside, Lorenzo heard a soft noise from the room. He glanced at Cecil, who was still wrapping up his bandages. Cecil heard it too and quickly snipped the extra tape with scissors. โAll done,โ he said.
Compared to Bernard, Cecil actually knew when to read the room. He didnโt even bother packing up the medical stuff, just blurted out, โLorenzo, I just remembered I got something to deal with later.โ
Just as he got to the door, Lorenzo said in a low voice, โGo rip Bernardโs mouth off.โ
Cecil froze, back going stiff, and mentally lit a candle for Bernard. He couldnโt blame Lorenzo. Anyone wouldโve lost it when listening to Bernardโs garbage. He was always a big mouth, and now heโd finally pushed Lorenzo too far.
Cecil took off. Lorenzo got up and walked to Ellaโs room. He opened the door and flipped on the lights, only to lock eyes with Ella, who looked like a total wreck.
Seeing Lorenzo, Ella froze for a second, and then let out a weak sob, โIt hurts so bad.โ
