Chapter 620
Stephanie had initially planned to go downstairs with Sofia. But just as she called out to her, her phone rang. Although it was an unfamiliar number, Stephanie answered since it was from Fiorenza. โHello?โ
As soon as the call connected, Tylerโs apologetic voice came through. โStefi, itโs me.โ
Stephanieโs expression darkened immediately, and she was about to hang up.
Tyler seemed to know what she was thinking and quickly pleaded, โDonโt hang up, Stefi, please.โ
Even through the phone, Stephanie could sense Tyler was somewhat spineless. Especially that โpleaseโโit completely shattered her impression of him as someone who had looked down on her. Turns out, when a man is pushed to his limits, even his backbone can completely give way, Stephanie thought. But she knew this was just an act. If his pleas didnโt get him what he wanted, heโd quickly revert to his old self.
Stephanie squinted a bit and chuckled, โAre you begging me?โ
Tyler remained silent.
โWell, itโs quite rare. I never thought Iโd see the day a Hart would come begging,โ Stephanie said with a smirk.
During those two years in Long Harbor, the Hart family had always acted superior, looking down on everyone. But now, Tyler was reduced to beggingโand heโd never been more pathetic.
Stephanieโs voice dripped with heavy sarcasm, and she did it on purpose. They used to trample on her, and now she was giving it back, making them thoroughly taste this bitter feeling.
Tyler took a deep breath. โWe know the whole truth now. To revenge for you, Iโve kicked Olivia out of our family.โ
โRevenge for me?โ Stephanie scoffed, feeling it was hilarious. The Hart family made it sound like everything they did was for her. But she knew exactly what was on their minds.
โDidnโt you always know the truth?โ she sneered, cutting off Tyler before he could say anything.
That remark made everything go silent on the phone, leaving only Tylerโs heavy breathing. To Stephanie, the Hart family had always known the truth. If they truly believed Olivia did nothing wrong, they wouldnโt have been so eager to send her away.
Tyler struggled to find the words.
Stephanie continued, still sneering. โRevenge for me? More like youโre getting even for yourselves.โ
They claimed it was for her. But really, Stephanie had never been someone who could be easily moved, especially by people she didnโt care about.
Tylerโs voice trembled as he said, โStefi, youโโ
Stephanie cut him off. โAfter all, your father did have twins with her aunt.โ
Tyler fell silent completely.
โWow, so thrilling!โ Stephanie chuckled.
Tyler stood outside the jail, looking defeated. He had just seen Catlin. The verdict was quickโattempted murder, with many years sentenced. No matter what Tyler did, he couldnโt get her out.
The moment he heard Stephanieโs gloating laughter over the phone, his expression darkened. He clenched his fists and said, โThat woman wrecked your family too.โ
โOh? My family? Mr. Hart, have you forgotten what you said the first time we met?โ Stephanie asked.
Tyler froze. That day, Olivia had been deeply upset, worried Stephanie would return and challenge her for taking her place, and she was threatening to leave.
Sympathizing with Olivia, Tyler had confronted Stephanie, saying, โSo what if you are the Hart daughter? Olivia has grown up here; sheโll always be part of the family. Know your place, and youโll keep your status as a Hart lady. But if you canโt play nice and keep pushing against Olivia, youโll see just how tight she is with everyone.โ
At that moment, he had spoken sternly. Even though he hadnโt said it outright, his words had been clearโif it reached that point, the outsider would only be Stephanie.
โRemember now?โ Stephanie asked.
Listening to her bring up past grievances, Tyler felt uneasy but also angry at her attitude. He clenched his teeth, closed his eyes, and said, โIโm sorry, truly sorry. Iโm the one who wronged you. Please donโt make things difficult for Mom.โ
Stephanieโs smile grew colder. โItโs unfortunate, but your apologies mean nothing to me. And just so you know, Iโm not the one not letting her goโthe law is.โ
Tyler fell silent.
Stephanie smiled, โI canโt help you guys.โ
โStephanie Giovanni,โ Tyler shouted, his blood boiling with rage. He called her not just for an apologyโhe wanted his mother freed.
He had gone to Chad. But who would have thought that the man he once called his father could become so cold and heartless? Now Chad was pouring all his attention on those other people.
