The man’s words made Sofia’s mind click, immediately revealing his identity. The moment Richard heard it, he simply stopped what he was doing. Seeing this, Cliff let out a sigh of relief. Honestly, he was genuinely worried it would escalate into a scene here, which would be no good for him.

Richard stood with his arms crossed, watching Sofia with an amused expression, as if waiting for some entertainment. Sofia sneered, “What kind of explanation do you want? Go on, keep yelling. Do you need a megaphone? Acting as if it’s some kind of honor your boss got beaten up. An explanation, huh. Does Dan really need me to share all the details here?”

The man was Maxwell, Dan’s right-hand guy. He took off his sunglasses and said coldly, “You must compensate for his wound.”

Sofia and Cliff both felt speechless. After so many fights, it was the first time they heard something like this. Sofia couldn’t help but twitch her lips. She knocked Dan unconscious, and now his people were asking her for compensation. It was absurd.

She shot a fierce glare at Richard, who was watching the drama unfold. “They stole your stuff. I went to help you get it back and ended up having to fight them—now they want compensation. You hear that? You must compensate for his hurt.”

Sofia thought, ‘Compensation? It is absolutely ridiculous. And Richard, that damn fool, is the one who started all this. Now he’s just sitting there watching the show? Has he never seen a drama before, or what?’

Richard raised an eyebrow. “What do you want?”

Sofia looked at Maxwell. “What do you want?” This was really unusual. She was curious to hear what kind of compensation they would suggest.

Maxwell responded, “It is up to our boss. Ms. Giovanni, would you like to come with us?”

Cliff said, “Isn’t this inappropriate? They’re getting married right now—is it really the right time to take her away?”

Richard pressed his thin lips together, glaring at Maxwell with a dangerous look in his eyes. Sofia focused on Richard’s face. “My future husband, should I go with them?”

Richard’s face darkened. Sofia sure knew how to get her way; no wonder she and Dan were a match back then. “Are you trying to drag me into your business with Dan?”

Sofia said, “You said you want to marry me. My problems will definitely become your problems.”

Richard let out a sarcastic laugh. He shot a dangerous look at Maxwell. “My wife is not going with you.” The words “my wife” were said through Richard’s clenched teeth.

Maxwell’s face turned stern. What was said through his Bluetooth earpiece remained unknown, but Maxwell’s expression became even more severe. “In that case, Ms. Giovanni, we must apologize in advance.” With that, he drew a gun.

Sofia, Richard, and Cliff were caught off guard. The scene erupted instantly. The three men sent by Dan were strong, and even with Richard there, both sides were locked in a fierce standoff.

Sofia cursed, “Bastards, all of them are bastards. Richard’s a bastard, and Dan is apparently no different. They start fighting at the slightest provocation. What in the world was I thinking back then?”

Stephanie and Sebastian were on their way back to Lucano Castle. She had slept well last night, so she was full of energy. At the moment, she was on the phone with Ella. “I just asked around, and the former leader of the Dark Portal was indeed named Andrea, and she was recently taken back by the current leader. Ella said, “Lorenzo said the same thing. Stefi, you need to help me confirm this.”

Stephanie furrowed her brows.

Ella said, “What should I do, Stefi? I’m really worried.” She tried calling Andrea but couldn’t get through. With this thought, she was sure her mom was indeed the former leader of the Dark Portal.

Stephanie said, “Don’t worry, I’ll check on this again.” If the Andrea taken by the Dark Portal was really Ella’s mom, then she needed to act fast.

Ella said, “Stefi, I’m counting on you. You have to help me.” She felt nervous about being near Lorenzo. Even facing him was a problem now. She felt like she was always messing things up around him.

Stephanie said, “I know what to do.” She reassured Ella a couple more times before hanging up the call.
