Chapter 589

Just the mention of Lorenzo made Stephanie’s lips twitch. If Ella wasn’t doing those things on purpose, Stephanie thought maybe Ella was out of control whenever she was with Lorenzo. Remembering how Ella had just torn Lorenzo’s shirt again, Stephanie felt a wave of anxiety. “Will Lorenzo really help her?”

“He will. Absolutely,” Sebastian replied without hesitation.

Stephanie wanted to say more, “But Ella—”

“Alright, what gift did you bring for Grandpa this time?” Sebastian quickly changed the topic from Stephanie’s concerns. Ella’s issues were definitely something Lorenzo would handle. Sebastian understood Lorenzo’s caring attitude towards Ella. If he and Stephanie got involved, Lorenzo would probably be upset.

Stephanie said, “An elegant coffee brewing set, you know that.” But thinking about Michael’s picky nature, Stephanie sighed, “I really hope Grandpa likes what I brought him.”

Beth was easy to please. No matter what they brought her, she always acted like she loved it. But Michael was different. Very picky about gifts, he would let them know clearly if he wasn’t happy with what they gave him. Sebastian had experienced this firsthand before.

This time, coming back from Long Harbor, Stephanie had brought gifts for everyone, carefully selected. Everyone else was fine, but she was worried that her grandpa might not like his.

Sebastian playfully pinched her cheek. “Don’t worry, Grandpa will love it.”

“Really?”

Sebastian nodded and said, “Hasn’t Grandpa always liked the gifts you brought him before?”

Stephanie was silent, remembering how, back in Fiorenza, she would give Michael a birthday gift every year, and he always loved them. “Do you think Grandpa will be upset with me for being away so long?” she asked.

Hearing her concern, Sebastian chuckled. “Still worried about being scolded? If you were, you shouldn’t have stayed away so long!”

Stephanie pouted and stayed silent, looking at him. He was the reason why she left so long.

This time, Sebastian unexpectedly didn’t support her and simply said, “Just listen if he does.”

Stephanie thought to herself, ‘I hope Grandpa doesn’t scold me too harshly.’

Before marrying Sebastian’s father, Lottie was actually the only child in her home. Her parents truly pampered her while she was growing up, so whatever she liked, they liked as well.

Though not Lottie’s biological child, Stephanie was treated like a dear granddaughter due to the attitudes of Lottie and Sebastian. Even Sofia adored Stephanie. When they were kids, Sofia and Stephanie stayed at Lucano Castle for a while because Sebastian was too busy during that period.

During that time, Beth really treated Stephanie kindly, but Michael was genuinely strict with both Stephanie and Sofia. Solla was okay with it, but Stephanie was quite sensitive. Whenever Michael scolded her, she would cry right away.

Sebastian’s phone rang, interrupting what Stephanie was about to say. He took out the phone and answered, “Hello.”

“Sofia has been kidnapped,” came Richard’s voice from the phone.

Even through the screen, Richard’s anger was unmistakable. Sebastian frowned. Stephanie’s face froze when she heard Richard’s words. A hint of coldness flickered in Sebastian’s eyes. “What’s happening?”

Richard remarked, “Dan’s men took her away. Are you going to rescue her yourself?”

Stephanie was at a loss for words. Sebastian narrowed his eyes. “She left the Giovanni residence with you. Are you sure you’re not accountable?”

“I got hit as well, Sebastian! I’m telling you, this isn’t over. I was hoping after this thing with Sofia, we could wipe the slate clean regarding our past grudges. But just look at all this trouble!” Richard vented over the phone.

Sebastian rubbed his aching temples. Before he could reply, Richard had already hung up. Sebastian’s expression became even colder.

Stephanie nervously said, “Did Dan’s men take Sofia? Is there going to be trouble?”

Sebastian said nothing but thought, ‘Trouble? Maybe a little.’ He then remembered Elliot’s investigation on Dan, a cold glint flashed in his eyes.

Stephanie asked, “Even Richard got beaten up by Dan’s men?”

Sebastian said, “Probably.” Seeing how angry Richard was on the phone, it was almost certain he was beaten up. Getting attacked on his own turf in Fiorenza meant stormy times ahead.

Stephanie said, “That’s really strange. He got beaten up on his own turf.” Richard was someone who ran Fiorenza like it was his backyard, yet someone managed to take him down today. It was honestly quite surprising.

Sebastian didn’t reply. He extended his hand and ruffled Stephanie’s hair. “I’ll take you to Grandma first.”

“I want to go find Sofia with you,” Stephanie mumbled. As soon as she heard Sebastian say he’d drop her off first, she knew he was definitely going to look for Sofia. Dan’s situation seemed really complicated right now. No one could assure he wouldn’t harm Sofia.

Sebastian refused her. “No way.”

Dan had been getting really close to Finn lately, and he was really deep-thinking. Sebastian definitely wouldn’t let someone like Dan stay in Fiorenza.

A cold flash appeared in Sebastian’s eyes. But when he looked down into Stephanie’s eager eyes, he softened a bit. “Be good, okay?”

“I’m scared of Grandpa,” Stephanie said with a look of pity. Instead of facing Michael and Beth by herself, she’d rather stick close to Sebastian.
