Chapter 547

Sebastian didn't look at Richard. Instead, he looked past him and spoke to Stephanie. “Go to the medical room. I’ll be there soon to stay with you and the baby.”

Stephanie nodded obediently. “Okay.”

Richard was shocked, thinking, ‘Baby?’ Before he could ask anything, Sebastian had already turned and walked away.

Right now, Richard felt his blood boiling. He looked at Stephanie’s flat stomach. “You’re pregnant? Whose is it?”

“Are you coming with me or not?” Sebastian stopped and turned, his eyes cold and dangerous.

It was obvious that when Sebastian mentioned “the baby,” he was speaking directly to Richard. The conversation Sebastian had with Lottie earlier made it clear that Richard still had designs on Stephanie.

Richard’s breath caught. His eyes narrowed, and he shot an icy glare at Stephanie before turning and following Sebastian.

In the room, Stephanie set down the photo frame and reached out to steady Sofia. “Are you okay? Are you hurt?”

Sofia shook her head. “I’m fine. What were you thinking just now? Are you trying to get yourself killed by making him that mad?”

When Richard turned and walked toward Stephanie, his eyes were intense with anger. Sofia honestly thought that if Stephanie had thrown that vase, Richard would have snapped and gone after her.

Stephanie shrugged. “Should I have just stood there and let him hit you?”

“Hit me? I’m not pregnant, and I can handle myself. Even if I fought him, I’d be fine. But what about you? What if something happens to the baby?” Sofia said, looking worried.

When Sofia heard Sebastian mention Stephanie’s pregnancy, she was shocked. After processing it, she got scared. “Thank goodness I reacted quickly and stopped Richard earlier. What if Stephanie had gotten hurt? That would’ve been a nightmare,” she thought.

Lottie stepped forward, her face full of concern. “Stefi, that was way too dangerous. You’re going to be a mom now, and you’re still getting into fights like that?” she scolded.

Stephanie gave an awkward smile, feeling embarrassed at the mention of “fights.” To be honest, when Richard and Sofia started fighting, she’d jumped in, too. So she had been in the middle of it.

Before she could respond, Lottie added, “I know you were trying to protect Sofia, but you can’t handle Richard’s rage like that right now.”

“And honestly, with Sofia and Richard going at it, it’s hard to say who’s going to come out on top,” she went on. Lottie had seen Sofia confront Richard a few times lately, and each time, Sofia came back without a scratch. She knew exactly what her daughter was capable of. Even though she and Richard had a lot of unresolved issues, there was still some old friendship between them. Richard wouldn’t seriously hurt Sofia.

Thinking about Richard now, Lottie felt like the Giovanni family had treated him unfairly. Especially with how Sebastian had taken out his anger over Stephanie’s disappearance by going after Richard all these years. Richard had run off so quickly that he didn’t even get a chance to explain. Sebastian chased him all over the world like a mad dog.

Sofia climbed off the bed and quickly checked Stephanie over. “Let me see. Are you hurt?” Everything had been so chaotic before, she hadn’t even thought about it.

Stephanie shook her head. “No, I just threw a vase at him.”

“Oh! You’re hurt!” Sofia gasped when she saw the cut on Stephanie’s hand from the broken porcelain.

Lottie noticed the blood on Stephanie’s hand and her breath caught. “I told you to be careful. Wasn’t that vase supposed to be in one piece? How did you end up cutting yourself?”

Stephanie stared at the cut in her palm. “I don’t know. I didn’t feel anything at the time.” She had grabbed the vase in a rush, thinking it was fine, but she didn’t realize she’d cut herself. She hadn’t felt it at all.

“We need to get you to the medical room now. You’re pregnant, and using meds right now isn’t safe,” Sofia said, sounding really worried.

Without wasting another second, Sofia hurried Stephanie off to the medical room, completely frantic.
