Chapter 548

In the medical room, Jesse Gallagher heard that Macro was heading to Moalee Desert and burst into laughter for a solid ten minutes. Unable to hold back, Macro watched, his face getting darker by the second. “How long are you planning to laugh?” he asked.

‘Man, I’m about to go mad here, and this guy’s still laughing. He’s been going for ten minutes! How can anyone be this annoying?’ Macro thought.

Jesse wiped his eyes with a tissue. “So, you finally pissed off Mr. Giovanni, huh? I’ve been saying it. Your big mouth’s gonna get you into trouble one of these days.”

Anyone who had spent time around Sebastian knew how annoying Macro’s mouth could be. Back then, everyone was curious about how long Sebastian could put up with him.

Macro rubbed his forehead. “It’s not my mouth. That’s not the problem.” His heart ached as he talked about it.

“How did I miss that? Stephanie’s pregnant. I didn’t even think about it. And Sebastian, of all people, figured it out. He actually noticed before I did,” he thought.

On the way back, whenever Macro thought about being sent to Moalee Desert, he really wanted to beat himself up. He thought, ‘How could I be so dumb? They’ve been together, so of course she could get pregnant. I totally overestimated how much respect Sebastian had for Stephanie. I thought he’d never let her get pregnant before marriage. But now, it looks like I missed something. Stephanie’s been gone for years, and now Sebastian can do whatever he wants with her. Using a kid to trap her? I was wrong about him.’

Jesse, who was still laughing, finally stopped, his stomach hurting. “So, what’s the reason?”

‘Reason?’ Macro thought, suddenly remembering something.

Then Macro glanced at Jesse, who was laughing so hard that he had tears in his eyes. With a plan in mind, he said with a smirk, “Forget it.”

He figured if Jesse became his partner in Moalee Desert, he might think twice about laughing at him next time. Stephanie was about to come in for a check-up, and knowing Jesse’s personality, Macro thought he’d probably make the same assumption.

Not many in the Giovanni family knew that Stephanie and Sebastian were together, so Jesse probably wouldn’t consider that she might be pregnant. If he misdiagnosed her, he would be in serious trouble.

Suddenly, a thought popped into Macro’s mind, and his eyes lit up. “Stephanie’s coming in soon for a check-up. She hasn’t been feeling well lately.”

“What’s wrong with her?” Jesse immediately became serious when he heard that Stephanie wasn’t feeling well.

Macro leaned in, saying, “She hasn’t been eating much. Probably because Sebastian spoiled her with too much food when he went to Long Harbor.”

Macro put extra emphasis on the words “too much food,” trying to make it sound more important. He was clearly trying to steer Jesse in the wrong direction.

But Jesse frowned. “That doesn’t sound right. Isn’t Mr. Giovanni usually careful with Ms. Giovanni’s food? She can’t handle too much.”

Everyone in the Giovanni family and the Lucano family knew how much Stephanie loved food, even though her stomach wasn’t great. She always craved more, and Sebastian had always kept a close eye on it.

Now Macro was saying that Sebastian overfed her in Long Harbor, and Jesse looked at him with suspicion. “You’re not messing with me, are you? What’s your game here?”

Macro was shocked, thinking, “This guy’s sharp. Stephanie’s been gone for years, and he still remembers her eating habits?”

He waved his hand dismissively. “Why would I mess with you? Sebastian hasn’t seen Stefi in years. Of course, he’s been spoiling her.”

“He went to Long Harbor, and naturally, he’s just giving in to whatever Stefi wants. She says jump, and he says how high,” he added.

Jesse thought, ‘Oh, really?’

Macro nodded, a smirk tugging at his lips. “Anyway, she’s definitely coming in for a check-up. Make sure you check her stomach carefully.”

He stressed her stomach again, clearly trying to get Jesse to focus on that.

‘What’s more boring than going to Moalee Desert alone? If I have to go, I’m at least bringing someone with me,’ Macro thought.

Jesse paused and then nodded. “Okay.”

Then he felt that something didn’t sit right. “But why doesn’t Mr. Giovanni just let you check Ms. Giovanni yourself?”
