Chapter 495

Stephanie stepped forward and took her hand. โ€œIโ€™m really sorry,โ€ she said quietly. It had been Sebastian who told Allison to go to Shallow Bay Area, and their driver had picked her up. If she hadnโ€™t gone, maybe none of this would have happened.

Allison shook her head. โ€œDonโ€™t say sorry. If it werenโ€™t for the driverโ€™s quick thinking, the truckโ€™s wheel wouldโ€™ve run right over me.โ€ Her calm voice held a hint of relief; she knew sheโ€™d be dead without the driver.

But Yanisโ€™s face darkened. Hearing that felt like a punch to the gut.

Stephanie started to speak, but Yanis cut her off. โ€œI saw it happen. Most driversโ€™ first instinct was to save themselves, but your driver ended up saving me.โ€ Heโ€™d used his side to block the truckโ€™s wheels. In that split second, heโ€™d leaped out, climbed onto the truck, and yanked its driver down.

Allison knew someone had tried to kill her. If anyone else had been driving, or if sheโ€™d been behind the wheel herself, today wouldโ€™ve been her last.

Yanis got the message, even if it was meant for Stephanie. Stephanie squeezed Allisonโ€™s hand as she caught on. โ€œAllison,โ€ she said softly.

When Allison was with Yanis, sheโ€™d only faced mild disdain from those around him, but Yanis always had her back. Now, they hated her enough to plot her death. Without Yanis, her life at the Lewis residence would be unbearable, despite the fact that sheโ€™d once helped them. He was the reason she kept going, but now, everything had changed.

Allison clutched Stephanieโ€™s wrist. โ€œYouโ€™re going back to Fiorenza tonight, arenโ€™t you?โ€

Stephanie hesitated. She couldnโ€™t say โ€œyesโ€ with Allison looking at her like that.

With everything Allison was going through, Stephanie couldnโ€™t leave at easeโ€”especially with someone out to harm Allison.

Allison saw through what Stephanie was thinking, and a bitter smile flickered on her lips. โ€œIโ€™m going, too,โ€ she said quietly.

โ€œAllison,โ€ Yanis cut in, his voice tight with panic and restraint. Heโ€™d been holding back, but now he couldnโ€™t stay silent.

Stephanie was surprised by Allisonโ€™s decision to leave with her. Ignoring Yanis, Allison squeezed Stephanieโ€™s hand. โ€œStefi, youโ€™ll help me, right?โ€

Stephanie was taken aback. She realized that Allison was implying she would leave Yanis behind by force. She glanced at Yanis, noticing his furrowed brows and clenched fists. It was obvious to her. There was no way heโ€™d let Allison leave for Fiorenza without a fight.

Allisonโ€™s mention of โ€œhelp meโ€ meant she wanted Stephanie to use Sebastianโ€™s influence to help her get away. โ€œThe situation between her and Yanis has reached a breaking point?โ€ Stephanie wondered.

Yanis stepped forward and gently took Allisonโ€™s hand from Stephanieโ€™s. โ€œAllison, donโ€™t you think you shouldโ€”โ€

โ€œGive you a reasonable explanation?โ€ Allison cut him off.

โ€œThen shouldnโ€™t you explain why your motherโ€™s been so hostile to me for years? What right does she have? What right does the entire Lewis family have?โ€ Allisonโ€™s voice rose to a shout by the end.

Yanis was left speechless, and Stephanieโ€™s heart skipped a beat. Allison yanked her hand free from Yanisโ€™s, her eyes filled with anger. The warmth sheโ€™d once felt for him was gone.

Facing Allisonโ€™s glare, Yanis felt his heart tighten. โ€œDid you believe what Xayvion said?โ€
