Chapter 494

Half an hour later, Stephanie burst into the hospital. Allison was still theโ€ฆ Vโ€”

Yanis stood at the entrance, snapping into his phone, โ€œGet that truck driver here. Iโ€™m questioning him myself.โ€

Even from a distance, Stephanie could feel the heat rolling off him. The hospital director and dean hovered nearby, their faces etched with worry.

Yanis ended the call and turned to Kim Lynn, his assistant. โ€œCheck that driverโ€™s bank records,โ€ he said, his voice tight.

Kim nodded. โ€œAlready did.โ€ He handed over his phone. Yanis barely had to askโ€”Kim had been his go-to for years. Heโ€™d sensed something was off the moment the ambulance was called. It wasโ€ฆperilous. Lately, people around Yanis had been turning against Allison.

Yanis took Kimโ€™s phone and glanced at it, his presence suddenly radiating unsettling hostility.

Stephanie had hurried to the hospital, intending to tell Yanis what the driver had noticed. But now, it seemed Yanis had already gotten the information.

Yanis narrowed his eyes. โ€œIn that case, bring Lilithโ€ฆโ€ He paused, then continued more forcefully, โ€œBring her to the police station.โ€

Kim felt a flicker of unease. He nodded and asked, โ€œWhat about your mother?โ€

Lilith was a distant niece of Sharon, connected through her cousinโ€™s brother-in-law, so they werenโ€™t particularly close. Lilithโ€™s parents had died in a plane crash two years ago. Though they werenโ€™t close, there were still family ties. And since Sharonโ€™s cousin had personally suggested it, Lilith ended up staying with the Lewis family.

Sharon seemed to take a liking to Lilith, probably because Lilith knew how to charm her. She was also interested in setting Lilith up with Yanis.

With everything that had happened, Kim was sure Sharon was going to cause a fussโ€”especially since she was so fond of Lilith.

Yanisโ€™s eyes turned cold at the mention of his mother. โ€œDo you think sheโ€™s above the law?โ€

Kim winced. Clearly not. But sheโ€™s got her ways. Itโ€™s just a headache, he sighed inwardly.

But now that Yanis had made up his mind, there was no way Lilith was getting out of this. โ€œIโ€™ll take care of it right now,โ€ Kim said, heading off.

Yanis lit a cigarette, taking deep drags while the director and the dean beside him stayed quiet.

Stephanie stepped forward. Yanis glanced at her but just kept smoking without a word. Stephanie didnโ€™t know what to say.

The emergency room doors swung open, and Allison was wheeled out. Yanis was by her side in an instant, holding her hand tightly. โ€œAllison,โ€ he whispered, his voice shaking as he gently touched the wound on her forehead. His heart ached for her.

The medical assistant who came out with her pulled off his mask. โ€œMs. Pierce just has some surface injuries, but she needs to stay overnight for observation.โ€

Yanis glanced at the bandage on Allisonโ€™s leg, then the small scratch on her forehead. Stephanie moved closer to check on Allison.

Allison was conscious now. She ignored Yanis, pulling her hand from his grasp and reaching for Stephanie instead. โ€œStefi,โ€ she murmured.

Yanis felt a sudden emptiness as her hand slipped away, his chest tightening.
