Chapter 493

Twenty minutes later, Stephanie pulled up to the accident scene. As soon as she got out of the car, she saw Yanis carefully lifting Allison into the ambulance.

โ€œAllison,โ€ Stephanie blurted out, stepping forward. There was so much blood. Just moments ago, Allison had been chatting with her on the phone, and now she lay pale and still in Yanisโ€™s arms. Stephanieโ€™s heart ached as she took in the scene.

Before she could reach them, the ambulance tore away. The scene was chaos. The front of the car Allison was in was crumpled, and the truck had flipped to the side.

The driver, who had been with Allison, limped over and called out to Stephanie, โ€œMs. Giovanni?โ€

Stephanie stared at him, still in shock. โ€œYou were driving Allison?โ€ she asked.

The driver nodded and pointed. โ€œYeah, the truck was parked over there.โ€ He gestured to a spot on the side of the road.

โ€œParked?โ€ Stephanie asked, stunned.

โ€œWe were just pulling out when it lost control and slammed into us,โ€ the driver replied.

Stephanieโ€™s heart skipped a beat as she got the messageโ€”the truck had been parked safely, but as soon as Allisonโ€™s car pulled out, the truck hit it. She looked at the wrecked front of the car again, and everything felt deliberate. The driver didnโ€™t say much, but his message was clear. The Giovanni familyโ€™s drivers were prosโ€”trained to spot trouble and remember every detail. The truck had been parked there the whole timeโ€”no way the driver didnโ€™t see it.

โ€˜So, did a random parked truck just crash into their car?โ€™ Stephanieโ€™s mind raced. โ€˜Was this aimed at Sebastian, or was itโ€ฆ Allison?โ€™ It probably wasnโ€™t aimed at Sebastian, or theyโ€™d have used something cleverer than a car crash. So it had to be Allison. If so, someone has been watching her for a while. Stephanieโ€™s heart pounded, and her breathing quickened.

If the crash was meant for Allison, then someone close to Yanis was willing to go to extreme lengths to get to her.

Stephanie closed her eyes for a moment. โ€œYou go to the hospital first,โ€ she said quietly.

The driver nodded. โ€œOkay.โ€

โ€œIโ€™ll take you,โ€ she added, glancing at his leg. He wasnโ€™t badly hurt, but he was still limping. And she needed to check on Allison.

The driver hesitated. โ€œThis isโ€ฆโ€ He looked uncomfortable. Riding in a car driven by his employer felt off.

Stephanie saw the uncertainty in his eyes. โ€œJust get in,โ€ she said calmly, figuring this was no time for formalities.

The driver nodded nervously. โ€œThank you, Ms. Giovanni.โ€

As they were about to get into the car, two vehicles pulled up just a few feet away. One door opened quickly. Sebastian stepped out of the car, his expression cold and serious as he looked at Stephanie.

Stephanie met his gaze, her heart skipping a beat. โ€œArenโ€™t you supposed to be busy with something?โ€

Sebastian saw she was barely dressed and wrapped his arms around her. โ€œWhy didnโ€™t you wear something warmer?โ€ he chided gently.

It was then that Stephanie realized she was actually cold.

As Sebastian started to take off his jacket to cover her, Henry hurried over from another car. โ€œIโ€™ve brought Ms. Giovanniโ€™s coat,โ€ he said, holding it out. Henry had seen Stephanie leave in such thin clothes, so he grabbed her coat and followed her, worried that she might get cold and that her reckless driving could lead to an accident.

Sebastian took the coat and wrapped it around her. โ€œPut your arms through,โ€ he said, adjusting it snugly. โ€œKeep it on.โ€
