“Mhm.” Aurora nodded. “Lying in bed every day made my limbs feel like jelly. I’m only starting to feel a little better now. It’s like my stomach came back to life.”
It had been nearly a month. Even a healthy body would have issues after lying down for so long. Everyone understood that without needing to say it aloud.
Lucas looked at her. Even while talking, she was still putting food in her mouth, which made his heart ache. She must have suffered a lot over the past month to end up like this. The Aurora he remembered had always been bright and put-together, never showing her emotions to others. But now, she was nothing like before.
“If it’s not enough, eat a bit more. If it still isn’t, I’ll have someone bring you more.”
Aurora couldn’t help but laugh. “Come on, it’s more than enough. I already ate a lot. Besides, don’t overthink it. I haven’t really eaten properly in nearly a month. If I suddenly eat too much, it might upset my stomach.”
Lucas thought about it and realized she was right. He had been too anxious and hadn’t considered that. “I was too hasty. If you need anything, just let me know.”
Aurora shook her head. “I can be discharged soon. Staying here too long makes me feel like my bones are going moldy.”
But Lucas looked concerned. “Shouldn’t you stay for further observation? You only just woke up.”
Aurora, however, couldn’t wait any longer. She had no idea what the situation at the company was like now. And Tessa had always been watching closely, waiting to pounce. She had been hospitalized for so long – could Tessa really have stayed idle this whole time? If that was the case, then there was a lot she needed to take care of, and by then, there would be even more to deal with than before.
