Chapter 674
The saleslady thought Rachel had suffered terrible grief. Rachel wanted to explain the situation, but then she decided it wasnโt necessary, since she seldom came here to buy things. Instead of responding, she settled on a lily-of-the-valley perfume.
โIโll take this one.โ
The saleslady was shocked. When she recovered from her surprise, she whispered to Rachel, โMiss, this perfume is the most expensive in our shop. Are you sure you want your boyfriend to buy something so expensive for another woman?โ
Rachelโs face changed slightly. She turned to look at Tyler, who was still lounging on the couch like he owned the place, leisurely flipping through a magazine. He looked like he was born to enjoy life.
What else could Rachel say when Tyler wanted to buy the perfume for a client? She forced a smile on her face. โPlease help me pack it up.โ
The saleslady started wrapping up the perfume, but wouldnโt stop talking. โMiss, do you want a bottle for yourself? You might as well spend your boyfriendโs money. Heโs already willing to spend it on another woman, anyway. You should pick one for yourself.โ
Rachel shook her head and rejected her politely. โNo, thank you.โ
She had perfume at home. If she wanted more, she could always buy it for herself. To the saleslady, Rachelโs rejection showed Tylerโs unwillingness to splurge on her. The saleslady pursed her lips and muttered under her breath, โMen are incorrigible nowadays. He might be rich, but heโs still unwilling to spend money on his girlfriend.โ
The saleslady didnโt speak very loudly, but it was loud enough for everyone else in the shop to hear her. Tyler probably heard what she said and glanced at Rachel.
โGet a bottle for yourself.โ
Rachel wasnโt particularly glad about it, especially compared to the saleslady, who said gleefully, โHear that, miss? Your boyfriend just told you to pick one! Quick, pick one you like. I can make some recommendations. A lady with your poise would only stand out more with some perfume on. For all you know, your boyfriend might have a change of heart and come back to you.โ
Rachel found the saleslady quite a sweet talker. Though slightly gossipy, she wasnโt annoying. An idea came to mind.
โHow old are you?โ Rachel asked.
โI just turned twenty.โ
โThatโs still quite young. Can I chat with you while you introduce me to some perfumes?โ
The salesladyโs eyes lit up when she heard that Rachel wanted another bottle of perfume and nodded profusely. โSure! What do you want to chat about? Let me shortlist a few perfumes suitable for you.โ
Rachel was getting tired from standing for a long time and walked toward Tyler. She pulled out the chair he was resting his legs on.
Tyler lurched forward, completely caught off guard by Rachelโs sudden move. He looked at Rachel with a strange expression.
โWhatโs wrong? Didnโt find anything you like?โ
Rachel grumbled, โYouโre in public and not at home. Can you please watch your image? You look like a vagrant.โ
Tyler didnโt quite understand what she meant. He shook out the magazine in his hands and asked, โWhat do you mean by vagrant?โ
โThat means you look homeless, like a hooligan.โ
Rachel returned to the counter to listen to the salesladyโs recommendations. While the saleslady gave some samples, Rachel asked her, โWhat did you major in for your studies? Also, how much are you paid per month right now?โ
