Chapter 218: Breaking Up
She was in chaos, as if she had walked into a tangled mess, searching desperately for a way out. โFraser, have you forgotten our three-month agreement? In just a few hours, our relationship will be over!โ
Fraserโs eyes were bloodshot, his lips curling into a mocking smile filled with sarcasm. โRemembering it so clearlyโฆ Have you been waiting for this to end all along?โ
Summer bit her lip and met his gaze fearlessly, speaking each word with clarity. โMr. Graham, this was your promise. Are you going back on your word?โ
Fraser lazily raised his wrist and glanced at his expensive watch. The dazzling starry dial ticked on, cold and unfeeling. The time pointed to 10 PM. He leaned back into his usual nonchalant demeanor, smirking. โWhatโs the rush? Thereโs still two hours left.โ
Summer didnโt want to waste words on meaningless arguments. She stood up, intending to leave. The moment she took a step forward, her arm was yanked back, and she was thrown straight onto the bed. Fraser loomed over her aggressively.
Summer pushed against his chest. โAre you insane? This is a hospital!โ Fraserโs eyes were terrifyingly dark, his lips curving into a wicked smirk. โRelax. No one dares to come in.โ
With that, he gripped her chin and kissed her hard. It was wild, domineering, as if he wanted to consume her whole. Summer struggled desperately. But the more she resisted, the tighter his grip became. In a moment of panic, Summer swung her hand, slapping him across the face.
A smack echoed through the hospital room. For a moment, both of them were stunned. Fraserโs gaze froze. His long lashes quivered stiffly as he stared at her in disbelief, a storm raging in his eyes. โSummer! Do I disgust you that much?โ
Summer looked at the glaring red mark on his face, opening her mouth slightly. She wanted to say it wasnโt intentional. But before she could speak, he was already demanding answers, his voice thick with rage. The words of apology stuck in her throat.
Summer suddenly thought that maybe this was for the best. They were breaking up anyway. There was no need to worry about keeping a good impression anymore. She pushed him off and stood up, her slender back turned stubbornly against him. Yet, a layer of mist quickly blurred her vision. Her eyes stung, and teardrops began to fall. Her voice, hoarse and strained, broke the silence. โThe three months are up.โ
โFraser, letโs not contact each other anymoreโฆโ She had rehearsed this moment countless times in private, practicing how to say goodbye with grace and dignity, but she never imagined it would end like this.
Summer thought she would be able to walk away coolly. But when she actually turned around, her tears fell uncontrollably, her heart breaking into pieces. She held back a sob. โAnd thank you for taking care of me these past few months.โ
12:17 PM
Fraser watched her leave without invitation. That woman didnโt even shed tears. โSummer, you reallyโฆโ Suddenly, he laughed. It was mocking, and his shoulders shook from the force. The thought made his laughter turn cold and sharp, his eyes glistening with, โCanโt let go of him, can you?โ
In an instant, the medical supplies on the table were swept to the ground with a violent thud. The room filled with the chaotic sound of things shattering.
Summer left the VIP room, completely lost in her thoughts. Without realizing it, she walked toward the operating room. Scarlett and Bethany were still waiting at the door. She didnโt step forward, only leaning against the corner, watching Trevor wheeled out on a hospital bed. She heardโฆ โGood night.โ
The doors to the operating room swung open. She heard the doctor crying out, โTortor, have bemny sou? This is going to be okay.โ The doctor replied, โThe surgery was a success. Fortunately, the wound was slightly off from the heart; otherwise, the consequences would have been unthinkable.โ
Bethany sobbed. โThank you, doctor. Thank you for saving my brother.โ Hearing that, Summer finally let out a breath she hadnโt realized she was holding. At least tonight wasnโt a complete disasterโฆ
The next day, the police called Summer in to give her statement. At the station, she saw Yolanda once again. She was handcuffed, her eyes still empty yet sharp. Even in custody, she remained hysterical. The moment she saw Summer, pure hatred burned in her gaze. She shot up from her seat, trying to lunge at her again. The officers quickly restrained her.
Yolanda screamed, โI was just teaching an ungrateful daughter a lesson! What crime did I commit? I raised her for twenty years! Iโm her mother! Itโs my right to discipline her!โ
