Chapter 217: Nowhere to Retreat

After a moment, she placed her hand in his and stood up. Fraser led her away. Scarlett watched them leave, gritting her teeth.

โ€œNo wonder she broke up with my son. This woman latched onto Bossman! I told you from the start she was a vixen! I warned your brother not to be with her, but he wouldnโ€™t listenโ€ฆโ€

Bethany felt utterly humiliated by the stares of people passing through the hospital. She stomped her foot. โ€œMom, Trevor is still in surgery. Can you lower your voice and stop ranting!โ€

Scarlett jabbed her finger hard against Bethanyโ€™s forehead. โ€œYour brother got stabbed protecting Summer, and what does that bitch do? Runs off with another man!โ€

Fraser brought Summer to a VIP room and instructed the waiting female doctor, โ€œCheck her injuries.โ€

Summer hugged her arms and shook her head, speaking in a low voice. โ€œIโ€™m not hurt. Thereโ€™s no need.โ€

Do you want me to do it for you? Fraserโ€™s tone wasnโ€™t particularly cold, but it was lower than usual.

Having spent some time with him, Summer could tell that this man was not in a good mood.

The atmosphere in the room suddenly turned ice-cold. Summer slowly loosened her arms. The female doctor felt a chill run down her spine and quickly pulled the curtain shut before examining Summer from head to toe.

After a while, she drew back the curtain. โ€œMr. Graham, Ms. Stewart has multiple bruises and abrasions on her arms and thighs. She needs some medication applied.โ€

Summer obediently sat by the bed, letting the doctor treat her as she pleased. The doctor carefully applied ointment to her wounds.

โ€œTskโ€ฆโ€ The moment the iodine touched the open wound on her arm, the stinging sensation made Summer instinctively furrow her brows.

Fraser, who had been standing nearby, glanced over. The cigarette he was twirling between his fingers made one last spin before he shoved it back into the pack. His voice was indifferent. โ€œGet out. Iโ€™ll do it.โ€

The doctor, feeling immense relief, quickly set down the medicine and left, closing the door behind her.

Fraser picked up the ointment, staring at her arm for a few seconds before dipping a cotton swab into the iodine and gently applying it. His movements were unexpectedly gentle.

From Summerโ€™s perspective, the hospitalโ€™s dim lighting cast a soft glow over him. His long lashes drooped slightly, concealing his emotions, but the sharp contours of his side profile remained strikingly distinct.

Once he was done, Fraser tossed the cotton swab into the trash. His refined features remained expressionless, but his deep black eyes lingered on her.

After a moment, his voice carried a hint of command. โ€œGo back home in a bit?โ€

Summer pressed her lips together. โ€œI want to wait until Trevor wakes up before leaving.โ€

โ€œSummer.โ€ Fraserโ€™s low voice called her name. โ€œDonโ€™t test my patience right now.โ€

Summerโ€™s gaze flickered slightly. The cooling medication soothed her wounds, but she kept her head lowered as she spoke. โ€œHe saved me this time.โ€

โ€œHeh,โ€ Fraser let out a cold chuckle, his voice as sharp as ice against stone. โ€œSo, what? You want to repay him with your body?โ€

Hearing this, Summer knew Fraser had misunderstood. The memory of Trevor shoving her aside, taking Yolandaโ€™s knife straight to the chest, and bleeding profusely replayed in her mind. No matter who it was, if someone had protected her like that, she would feel grateful.

Summer lifted her head, her clear eyes locking onto his. โ€œHe saved my life. No matter how you look at it. I should wait until he wakes up before leaving.โ€

Fraser stared at her, the warmth in his gaze rapidly fading. โ€œSo, you allow him.โ€

What kind of logic was that? Summer couldnโ€™t follow Fraserโ€™s train of thought.

โ€œWhat does this have to do with love?โ€

โ€œWhy wonโ€™t you admit it?โ€

Travert Summer was frustrated now.

From the moment Yolanda attacked her, to the terrifying ordeal on the rooftop, she had wavered. She wanted nothing more than to throw herself into his arms and absorb his warmth.

But ever since he arrived, Fraser had been cold. Distant. The way he looked at her carried an indifferent sense ofโ€ฆ what are you calling my name for? Fraserโ€™s dark pupils bore into her. He let out a mocking laugh; his lips curling slightly. And there to feel wronged about now? Do you expect me to pray for his speedy recovery too?

Summer turned her face away. โ€œI donโ€™t have the energy to argue with you today.โ€

โ€œNamegy!โ€ Fraserโ€™s gaze darkened completely, his presence suffocating. โ€œSummer, youโ€™re just scared he wonโ€™tโ€ฆ wierum.โ€

Summer had nowhere left toโ€ฆ
