Chapter 106: The Final Break
It wasnโt until Yvette rolled over uncomfortably on the sofa and let out a soft moan that Summer snapped out of her thoughts.
โTrevor, thereโs no chance for us anymore. I used to dream of hearing you say those words to me, but after five years, even the most passionate heart has grown cold. Letโs just let each other go.โ
Trevorโs eyes turned icy. โIs it because of Fraser?โ
Summer didnโt answer. Even without Fraser, they wouldn't have lasted. And it wasnโt because of Fraser that she had broken up with him. But Summerโs silence was an admission in Trevorโs eyes. Summer actually had feelings for a man like Fraser.
Just the thought of that possibility sent a wave of anger crashing over Trevor, drowning him. Trevor gritted his teeth. โSummer, everyone in Havenbrook knows that the Graham and Larson families are rivals. And you were my fiancรฉe. Use your brain. Why would he want to be with you? Fraser is just trying to get back at me. Heโs playing with you. Donโt be naive.โ
Hearing this, Summer clenched her fists until her knuckles turned white and shouted, โEnough! Do you think everyone is like you? Double-dealing, unfaithful in relationships? Trevor, the only person you truly love is yourself.โ
Trevor looked at Summer, who was now bristling like a porcupine. His brow furrowed, the anger inside him slowly subsiding. What was I doing? How had I managed to turn things into such a mess again? Tonight, he had intended to win her back, not provoke her.
Trevor suppressed his temper, his voice softening. โSummer, Iโm just worried about you. The Graham family background would never accept you. Besides, there have been rumors for a long time that the Graham heir will marry into the Lastesh Group from Oblistan. Being with him will only hurt you.โ
Summerโs heart tightened, and her expression became even colder. She let out a bitter laugh. โI have already suffered enough pain because of you. Did you think your Larson family ever really accepted me? Didnโt your mother humiliate me as well?โ
Hearing her sarcastic words, Trevor stiffened. Damn it, I had done nothing. At this thought, Trevor felt as if a knife had sliced through his heart, and the pain was throbbing.
His voice was hoarse and heavy. โSummer, give me a chance to make it up to you. Iโll never hurt you again, and I wonโt let anyone bully you. I will change whatever you donโt like, okay?โ
Summerโs face was like ice. โI donโt need it. The only thing you need to change is to never show up in front of me again.โ
At that moment, a bartender approached. Summer no longer had the patience to talk to Trevor. She and the bartender helped Yvette up and headed for the door.
Trevor watched their retreating figures and, for the first time, felt as if a sharp sword had pierced his chest, the pain radiating through his limbs. He let out a mocking laugh. So I was the one who had hurt her the most.
Summer took Yvette home, wiped her with a towel, and tucked her into bed before leaving the room. It was too late to go home, so she decided to stay in Yvetteโs house. There was a bedroom for her there.
After showering and lying down, Summer was exhausted but couldnโt sleep. Her mind was filled with Trevorโs words: Fraser is just toying with you. An upper-class family like the Graham family would never accept you. Summer, you will get hurt! She had to admit that Trevor had touched the hidden fears deep in her heart.
Summer opened WhatsApp and found the contact of the man who had caused her sleepless night. Her fingers tapped on the screen for a long time, but she couldnโt bring herself to send the message. Summer deleted the words and threw her phone on the bed in frustration. Was I really going to ask him if he liked me, or was he just using me to spite Trevor? I was the one who had said that they should take things naturally. Summer, are you really that fragile?
It turned out that she had sent him a string of gibberish, which was why he was calling. She answered the call. The manโs deep, magnetic voice came through. โNot asleep yet?โ
Summerโs voice was soft. โAbout to sleep.โ
โWhatโs wrong with your voice?โ
โNothing.โ
โLet me see.โ
Did Mr. Graham not realize that he was in the Ameros? Even with all his power, could he really appear before me in a few minutes? Obviously, Summer was wrong. A video call buzzed through the quiet night.
