Chapter 107: A Late-Night Call
Summer panicked at the sound of the video call. She had been lying lazily in bed, but immediately sat up, smoothing her disheveled hair. Tonight, she was wearing Yvetteโs red nightgown, a strappy, plunging V-neck that accentuated her figure. Summer quickly pulled the fabric up to cover her chest and hesitantly answered the call.
This was the first time she had ever video-called a man this late at night. Summer was nervous and flustered, but the man on the other end seemed completely at ease. He looked relaxed, confident, and effortlessly commanding. The video showed his sharp, short hair, the high bridge of his nose, defined jawline, and narrow, dark eyes filled with amusement. His lips curled into a slight smile, and behind him was the surreal view of a cityscape through the floor-to-ceiling windows of his balcony.
Summer felt uncomfortable, her ears turning red. โWhy did you suddenly make a video call?โ
โI want to see you.โ
Fraserโs dark eyes were fixed intently on the woman in front of the screen. Her skin was smooth and delicate, like fine jade. Her eyes were bright and sparkling, and her lips were a soft, seductive red. She was clutching the fabric of her nightgown to her chest, but the red, strappy dress still revealed her pale, delicate shoulders.
Fraserโs gaze darkened, his Adamโs apple bobbing as he swallowed. Was she trying to cover up or tease him? Didnโt she know that this half-revealed, half-concealed look was even more alluring?
His voice was deep and husky. โSummer, are you trying to seduce me so blatantly?โ
โI am not!โ
He was the one who initiated the video call, and now he was turning it on her. The manโs intense, dangerous gaze seemed to sweep over Summer through the screen, even though he was thousands of miles away.
In the next second, she pulled the blanket over her, covering everything but her head. The manโs voice, laced with amusement, came through. โWhat are you hiding? Iโve seen every part of you.โ
โPervert,โ Summer grunted.
Fraserโs gaze deepened, his eyes so dark they seemed to drown her. โHmph, Iโm just a pervert to you.โ
Summer was speechless. When it came to this cunning man, she could never win. Fraser watched the woman on the screen, her flushed face and delicate demeanor. His smile widened.
He had been in the Americas for two days on business, and he missed her. He had traveled a lot for work in the past, and Summer hadnโt been his wife then. He had never felt this way before. Maybe humans were greedy by nature; once they tasted sweetness, they became addicted to it.
Fraser looked up, his gaze intense. โDid you miss me?โ
โNo.โ
Summer refused to admit it. โBut I missed you. Summer, you heard it?โ
Summer met his gaze, which was like a deep, dark vortex that threatened to pull her in. Her heart skipped a beat. Then, the manโs voice came through, teasing and casual. โI want you tonight. How can I do?โ
Ah, she should have known better than to trust his words!
After hanging up, Fraserโs lips curled into a sweet smile. His assistant, Mike, knocked on the door and respectfully handed over a stack of documents. Fraser walked over to his desk, picked up a pen, and signed his name at the end of the contract. He casually handed the documents back and asked, โIs the return flight on Friday confirmed?โ
Mike took the documents and hesitated for a moment before nodding. There had been an urgent problem at the subsidiary, forcing Mr. Graham to travel there to solve it. The workload was heavy, and it would have been a stretch to finish it within a week. It seemed like something important was waiting for him back home, but the orders of the Graham family patriarch couldnโt be ignored.
Mike hesitated before speaking. โMr. Graham, Anne Lastesh, the granddaughter of the Lastesh Group, is graduating from Haverford University this week. Mr. Maximusโs intention is for you toโฆ attend the ceremony before you return.โ
As he spoke, Fraserโs icy gaze swept over him, and Mikeโs voice grew quieter. Fraser looked up, his tone unreadable. โMy grandfatherโs intention?โ
Mike stood respectfully. โYes.โ
Fraser let out a cold laugh. โAre you my person or his?โ
โI am your person, Mr. Graham.โ
โMy person? Then why are you delivering his orders?โ
The chill in Fraserโs voice made Mike feel a cold breeze on the back of his neck. Mike bowed even lower. โMr. Graham, I wouldnโt dare.โ
Fraserโs lips twitched. โWouldnโt dare? It seems like youโre daring enough. What, are you going to stop my plane from taking off?โ
