Chapter 787 Wiping It Out
Hayleyโs POV:
I walked up to Preston and said firmly, โTake a good look at him. This is Truman, the Alpha of the Grimmoon Pack. Even your dad wouldnโt mess with someone like him. He could wipe out the Skyhawk Syndicate without breaking a sweat. You want the Hanovers to go down with them?โ
Prestonโs eyes widened in shock. โYouโre Truman?โ he asked, clearly shaken.
Truman squinted slightly. โWhat do you think?โ
Preston backed off instantly, too scared to even hold eye contact. But then, he seemed to remember that we were still in the Cyclone Packโs territory.
With all these onlookers around, Preston clearly didnโt want to embarrass himself in front of people who knew him. So, he put on a fake tough guy and said, โSo what? The Grimmoon Pack is strong, and Fate Corporation is a big deal. But our wager was personal. Everyone here is a witness to it. You shouldnโt be sticking your nose in.โ
Truman twisted Prestonโs arm again and said, โAnd what if I say I want to?โ
โAh! Stop! Is this how the legendary Alpha Truman acts? Are you gonna rough someone up over a low-rank Omega? All this without even knowing whatโs going on?โ
Preston pretended to be the victim, hoping the crowd would turn against Truman.
Watching him twist the story and drag Trumanโs name through the mud, Iโd had enough. I raised my voice on purpose and said, โDonโt try to flip this around. You were the one who tried to take advantage of me. Truman just stepped in to stop you. Guys like you, who have no respect and honor for women, are the real embarrassment to the Cyclone Pack and the Hanovers.โ
Truman smiled at me and nodded. Then, without warning, he popped both of Prestonโs arms out of their sockets and shoved him to the side.
โMr. Preston!โ
One of his followers tried to shift into his wolf form, ready to attack, but Trumanโs Alpha pressure hit him like a truck. All he could do was drag Preston, who was still screaming in pain, off to get patched up.
Once they were out of sight, everything settled down. Everyone went back to choosing raw stones.
I caught a glimpse of Truman pressing his hand against his wounds. On instinct, I said, โThanksโฆ for earlier.โ
He gave me a soft smile but didnโt say anything. He just looked at me with deep affection.
I avoided eye contact and put on a cold front. That finally snapped him out of it. He cleared his throat and suddenly asked, โHowโd you figure out I already crushed the Skyhawk Syndicate?โ
I froze. My eyes went wide.
Hold upโwhat? I had only made that up to spook Preston. Had Truman seriously taken them down for real?
โYou truly wiped out the Skyhawk Syndicate?โ I asked tentatively.
Truman frowned and got serious, like he wasnโt sure what I truly knew.
So, I explained, โThat was just a bluff to rattle Preston. I was trying to make a pointโthat there are plenty of powerful people who donโt flaunt it. I didnโt want him to keep acting so haughty. I never imagined the Skyhawk Syndicate to really be gone. So waitโdid you get injured because you attacked their base?โ
He nodded. โYeah.โ
No wonder someone as strong as him ended up so badly hurt. The Skyhawk Syndicate was run by witches, and their methods were nasty.
I thought it over, then asked, โYou handled it all by yourself?โ
โObviously.โ
That caught me off guard. โSo, you came to the Cyclone Pack just to wipe them out? Is there some major beef between Fate Corporation and the Skyhawk Syndicate?โ
