Chapter 740 Deeds and Deceptions

Hayleyโ€™s POV:

โ€œExcuse me, which one of you is Ms. Carson?โ€ the man in the suit asked politely.

โ€œThatโ€™s me. Can I help you?โ€ I recognized him immediatelyโ€“he was the one who had snatched the land.

โ€œPerfect,โ€ he said with a courteous smile as he handed over a document. โ€œThis is the deed. Iโ€™m here on behalf of my employer to present it to you as a gift.โ€

โ€œSo, who is your boss?โ€ I asked, a bit surprised.

โ€œThe founder of Fate Corporation, Alpha of the Grimmoon Packโ€“Truman,โ€ he said calmly.

โ€œI donโ€™t know any Alpha named Truman,โ€ I replied. I hadnโ€™t even heard of Fate Corporation before.

โ€œYou donโ€™t need to,โ€ the man said smoothly. โ€œAll you need to know is that on Fate territory, youโ€™re considered the most honored guest.โ€

He bowed slightly and nudged the deed forward again. โ€œPlease, Ms. Carson, accept it. Donโ€™t make things difficult for a humble employee like me.โ€

I really disliked this kind of forced politeness. What, just because Truman wanted to know me, I was obligated to say yes?

Still, seeing the way Freyaโ€™s jaw clenched and her eyes burned with fury, I couldnโ€™t deny that it gave me a tiny bit of satisfaction.

Benjaminโ€™s POV:

Watching Hayley hesitate, I felt a flicker ofโ€ฆcould I forget how stubborn she was?

Seeing the poor employee flounder, I stepped forward and took the document from his hands. โ€œPlease thank Mr. White for his generosity. Iโ€™ll accept it on Hayleyโ€™s behalf.โ€

โ€œIn that case, I wonโ€™t take up much of your time.โ€ With that, the employeeโ€“who clearly had no idea who I wasโ€“nodded and left without another word.

Hayley shot me a dramatic side-eye and muttered, โ€œAnd now youโ€™re out here accepting favors for me?โ€

โ€œWhy not? You already owe me plenty,โ€ I teased, trying to pacify her.

After all, Truman and I are the same person!

The Grimmoon Pack was my great-grandmotherโ€™s birthplace, and through a twist of fate, the former Alpha passed the title on to me.

I hadnโ€™t told anyone about it.

โ€œHmm?โ€ Hayley arched a brow at me, clearly suspicious.

โ€œWhat I mean is,โ€ I said with a mild smile, โ€œif I cover someone elseโ€™s favor for you, doesnโ€™t that mean their debt falls on me?โ€

โ€œNow that sounds like a good deal.โ€ Hayleyโ€™s eyes sparkled with mischief. โ€œIn that case, I donโ€™t owe anyone anything anymore!โ€

I chuckled helplessly and didnโ€™t argue.

Since Iโ€™d used โ€˜Trumanโ€™s identity to win her that land, I never expected her to pay anything back.

She was my destined mateโ€“of course she was mine to protect.

Hayley stuck her tongue out at meโ€“pure mischief and charm, utterly adorable.

Hayleyโ€™s POV:

I snatched the deed from Benjaminโ€™s hands and waved it triumphantly in front of Freyaโ€™s face. โ€œWell? What do you have to say now?โ€

Freyaโ€™s fists clenched at her sides, shaking with fury. Her bloodshot wolf eyes glared at me in silence.

I stared back without flinching.

Heraโ€“my inner wolfโ€“was raging, howling to be let out and teach her a lesson.

I soothed her, kept her in check.

โ€œMs. Freya.โ€ Her assistant, Nathan, returned, looking uneasy and holding a phone. He whispered to her, โ€œYour father wants to speak with you.โ€

Freya finally forced herself to calm down, pulling her expression back under control. โ€œEnjoy your victory while it lasts, Hayley,โ€ she said coldly. โ€œYou wonโ€™t be this lucky forever.โ€

With that, she grabbed Nathanโ€™s phone and stormed off.

I scoffed and tossed the deed back into Benjaminโ€™s arm. โ€œItโ€™s heavy. I donโ€™t want it anymoreโ€“you carry it.โ€

Benjamin caught the document and looked at me, amused and helpless. โ€œYouโ€™re just going to toss away a 90 million-dollar deed like itโ€™s nothing?โ€

โ€œI canโ€™t eat it or cuddle itโ€“what am I supposed to do, frame it?โ€ I waved dismissively and turned to leave.

This whole day was a snoozefest. Iโ€™d rather go find Scarlett and mess with her for a bit.

On the way back, our group made a quick stop at a photo studio.

I dragged Henry upstairs to browse around for a while.

When we came back out, each of us had a rolled-up poster and a stack of photos in hand.

โ€œThis is the rental fee and compensation for the studioโ€™s lost business hours,โ€ Henry said, handing a cheque to the manager before hopping in the car with me.

When I took Henry back to my hotel room, just as I was about to swipe my key card, I heard the sound of the door unlocking from inside.
