Chapter 754

A manโ€™s face flashed through Teresaโ€™s mind. Did he do this? she wondered.

Then Teresa snapped out of her thoughts. The police officer told them to go home and wait for news. The old ladies were temporarily detained there. After that, Teresa and Jennifer left the station.

Teresa noticed Jennifer holding her arm. โ€œAre you alright?โ€ she asked with concern.

โ€œIโ€™m fine,โ€ Jennifer said, giving Teresa a quick once-over. โ€œWhat about you? Are you hurt?โ€

Teresa shook her head. โ€œJust got hit a couple of times. Itโ€™s no big deal.โ€

โ€œWhy did you come rushing over when youโ€™re still pregnant?โ€ Jennifer couldnโ€™t help but scold her gently.

โ€œLetโ€™s drop that,โ€ Teresa said, steering the conversation back. โ€œI heard from Gary that you sold your car. Why did you do that?โ€

Jennifer went quiet. So thatโ€™s why Teresa came to the hospital to find me, she thought.

โ€œSorry,โ€ Jennifer said. Then she explained to Teresa, โ€œI sold the car because I went abroad to look for Peggy.โ€

Teresa frowned. โ€œPeggyโ€™s back in the country, but no one knows where sheโ€™s living yet.โ€

Jennifer looked at Teresa. โ€œHow do you know that? Did you go looking for her, too?โ€

โ€œI asked someone to investigate. I told you if I heard anything about her, youโ€™d be the first to know. You really didnโ€™t have to go all the way yourself,โ€ Teresa said.

Jennifer fell silent again. โ€œGary bought the car back for me. I should give it back to you.โ€ She handed the car keys to Teresa, wincing in pain. โ€œYou bought this for me in the first place. Iโ€™m not even your real sister, so I donโ€™t really have the right to accept all your kindness.โ€

Teresa was quiet for a moment and then said, โ€œOnce I give something away, I never take it back. Letโ€™s just leave it at that. Keeping the car will make things easier for you anyway.โ€

โ€œIt doesnโ€™t really matter if itโ€™s convenient or not. Iโ€™ve already quit my job at the hospital, and Donald knows about my fake pregnancy now,โ€ Jennifer said.

It was only then that Teresa noticed Jenniferโ€™s eyes were red and lifeless. โ€œSo, what now? Is he going to divorce you?โ€

โ€œI donโ€™t know. He was really angry and just walked away without even looking back,โ€ Jennifer said.

Teresa looked at Jennifer, but she just couldnโ€™t bring herself to be so harsh as to say, โ€œYou deserved this.โ€

She turned and said wearily, โ€œAlright, just drive home and talk things out with him. He loves you. He wonโ€™t be able to let you go. Youโ€™ll have your own child one day. And if I hear anything about your mom, Iโ€™ll let you know.โ€

Teresa drove off in her car. Instead of heading straight back to Rosary Estates, she went to Hurizanlead Group.

Jonathan was in a meeting when his secretary came in and said Teresa was there. He raised an eyebrow and asked, โ€œWho is it?โ€

โ€œMr. Lynn, itโ€™s Teresa,โ€ the secretary replied.

โ€œTake her to my office and get her something to eat and drink,โ€ Jonathan instructed.

โ€œYes, Mr. Lynn,โ€ the secretary responded.

Jonathan sped up the meeting. He hadnโ€™t expected Teresa to come looking for him, and he was both surprised and a little excited.

When Jonathan saw her sitting on the sofa, he walked over and said, โ€œWhy did you come to see me in person? If you needed something, couldnโ€™t you just call?โ€

Teresa looked up at him. โ€œI wanted to ask you something, and since I was passing by, I figured Iโ€™d stop in.โ€

โ€œWhat is it?โ€ Jonathan asked.

โ€œDid you send someone to rough up Jennifer?โ€ Teresa asked.

Jonathan frowned and sat down across from her. โ€œWhy would I do something so shady?โ€

Teresa let out a sigh of relief. โ€œIf it wasnโ€™t you, then thatโ€™s good. Guess I was just being paranoid.โ€

โ€œJennifer got beaten up?โ€ Jonathan asked.

โ€œAt first, I thought you mightโ€™ve sent someone after Jennifer in anger. Then I remembered you said youโ€™d expose her to the media and ruin her name. Today, she was attacked by a group of strangers, so I wondered if it was you,โ€ Teresa explained.
