Chapter 741

“Hey!” Benny couldn’t believe it. “You two sound exactly the same. I’m taking good care of the kid. If you hit me, I’ll bully Mike instead.”

“Don’t you dare!” Teresa and Jonathan said almost in unison.

Jonathan shot a look at Teresa, and she instinctively glanced back at him. Then they both quickly looked away.

Benny couldn’t help but laugh. “Alright, Mike. You’ve seen your mom and dad. Let’s not get in the way while they have some alone time, okay? The night’s still young…”

Teresa was stunned for a moment.

Benny laughed heartily, “Alright, I was just joking.”

After the call ended, Teresa scratched her cheek a bit awkwardly and said to Jonathan, “I’ll go turn in for the night. You should get some sleep too.”

“I have to go on a business trip for a few days next week,” Jonathan said.

Teresa nodded. ‘If he needs to travel for work, then so be it. Work comes first after all,’ she thought.

“I was thinking maybe you and Mike could come with me,” Jonathan added.

Teresa looked at him, confused.

“I’m heading to Eleneburg for work. Once I’m done, we can go shopping and check out the city together. After that, we could head over to Sayani and hit the beach. The sand there is super soft, and the weather’s always great,” Jonathan said.

He then turned around and leaned back against the counter. Before she could respond, he continued, as if he’d guessed what she’d say next, “Mike wants us both to take him out. We should grant his wish and spend time with him.”

Teresa frowned. ‘So Mike actually told him that? Well, it’s true. It’s been forever since I last took Mike on a trip,’ she thought.

“Sorry, I’ve been neglectful. But I need to handle my home affairs before I can make time.” She also wanted to spend time with her son properly. But right now, she had more important things to do.

Jonathan took a deep breath and tried again. “If things get tricky, I can help you out.” He’d step in as soon as she said the word.

“No, I really think I can handle it myself,” Teresa replied, her tone firm.

Seeing she was still too proud to accept any help, Jonathan didn’t push it further.

That night, each of them ended up sleeping in their own room.

The next morning, Teresa thought Jonathan had already left for work, but to her surprise, he came back in after heading out.

“I checked your prenatal records earlier. Isn’t it time for another checkup today?” Jonathan asked.

Teresa was surprised he remembered so well. She shook her head. “I’m not sure if I need to go again. The last time I fainted at the hospital, the doctor said I was fine and just needed to rest at home.”

“Just an ultrasound last time, not a full exam. You really should get a proper check-up,” Jonathan said, checking his watch. “Let me finish some work. Then I’ll go with you to the hospital for your check-up. I’ve got the whole day free.”

Teresa had planned to go by herself. She always had her prenatal check-ups at Nareigh General Hospital–the same place where Jennifer worked. Sometimes Jennifer would handle the check-up for her, and if she was busy, another doctor would step in.

Jonathan said, “I’m the father of your baby. Of course I should be there for your check-up. Even if we’re not married anymore, I still have every right to go with you.”

“Alright then, just wait a minute. I’ll go get changed,” Teresa replied.

Once they were in his car and Teresa had buckled her seatbelt, she said, “Let’s just go to the hospital where Jennifer works for the check-up.”

“Yeah, that’s the plan. I need to go there and stand up for you,” Jonathan said as he started the car, his eyes sharp and intense.

Teresa didn’t really get what he meant by that. She just figured he was talking nonsense.
