Chapter 722
Jonathan nodded. โWhile Iโm taking care of you, Iโll make sure Mike doesnโt feel left out or neglected.โ
โAlright, then thatโs settled,โ Teresa said, feeling exhausted. There was absolutely no way she was moving in with Jonathan. If Free ever saw Teresa living there, she definitely would think Teresa got pregnant on purpose just to trap Jonathan. No matter what, this was Teresaโs house, and it was Jonathan who insisted on moving in. Even if Irene showed up, it would be Jonathan clinging to Teresa, not the other way around. Irene couldnโt blame Teresa for it.
Jonathan said, โIโll pick you up tomorrow morning, and weโll take Mike back to the Lynn residence. We need to let my family know about him.โ
Teresa was taken aback. โWhy do I have to go?โ
โGrandpa called me several times today, insisting that I bring you and Mike back. Sooner or later, we have to face the family. We can keep the second baby under wraps for now, but we need to come clean about Mike first,โ Jonathan explained.
Teresa hesitated. โI have to pick up Miriam from the airport tomorrow. She and Edward are flying back from Gorthany.โ
โWhat time is their flight?โ Jonathan asked.
โItโs in the afternoon. I canโt remember the exact time,โ Teresa replied.
โNo problem. Weโll take Mike to see the family in the morning, and in the afternoon, Iโll drive you to the airport,โ Jonathan said.
As Teresa watched Jonathanโs car disappear down the road, her anxiety about tomorrow started to build. There was no dodging this. Sooner or later, sheโd have to face it. Better to rip off the band-aid now and finally let Jonathanโs family know about Michael. She was Michaelโs mother. If she didnโt go, Hayden would be disappointed. Irene might say things to Michael behind her back, maybe even trying to turn him against her. But if she did go, Irene would definitely shoot her some dirty looks.
After thinking it over, Teresa decided she had to go. Sheโd rather deal with Ireneโs eye rolls than let her son go to his dadโs place alone and face his fierce grandma by himself.
The next morning, Teresa woke up early. Just as she was about to start making breakfast, Jonathan showed up, his luggage already in tow. He even brought breakfast for her.
โDonโt let anyone know youโre staying here,โ Teresa said.
โCan you stop pushing me?โ Jonathanโs voice was icy. โYou wonโt let me say a word about anything. If you keep this up, I might just tie you up and haul you back to my place right now.โ
Teresa shot him a glare. โIf you try to force me, Iโll take the kids and disappear. Youโll never see us again.โ
Jonathan just laughed instead of getting angry. โAs long as we have kidsโtwo of them nowโweโre tied together for life. You could run to the ends of the earth and you still wouldnโt be able to shake me off.โ
Teresa was at a loss for words. She decided it wasnโt worth arguing with him anymore, so she got Michael up for breakfast, and then did her makeup. Teresa was a bundle of nerves on the way. Sheโd picked out a loose coat on purpose, and with it being fall, she was in long sleeves anyway. Sheโd already come up with an excuse. If anyone noticed, sheโd just blame it on a little weight gain. No way was she going to let herself get embarrassed today, or give Irene any more reasons to look down on her.
โMom, your hands are all sweaty,โ Michael said, holding onto Teresaโs hand as they got out of the car, looking up at her in confusion.
Teresa said it was a little warm out. Honestly, she was nervous, coming back to the Lynn residence after all this time.
โIโll carry Mike,โ Jonathan said, walking over to Teresa and scooping up Michael.
Teresa glanced at him. โLetโs just act natural, okay?โ
Jonathan replied, โIโm totally relaxed. Youโre the one whoโs all tense.โ
Teresa stayed silent.
