Chapter 721
Teresa remained unconvinced. She had her own life and didn't consider herself so frail as to be confined to the house all day.
โIโm not suggesting you stay home constantly,โ Jonathan said. โIโm not trying to restrict your freedom; I simply want to take better care of you.โ
โItโs just that there isnโt enough room for a maternity nanny here, and everything is inconvenient. If youโd prefer, we can arrange for you to stay at a maternity center.โ
โNo, thank you. I donโt need a maternity center. Iโm fine staying here,โ Teresa replied.
Jonathan sighed. โWhere did you inherit this stubbornness? Youโre driving me crazy.โ He was only trying to make things easier for her, hoping sheโd be more comfortable.
Teresa said, โItโs not about stubbornness. If I move into your house, have you considered your motherโs reaction? Or what others might say?โ
โWorried the rumors will jeopardize your chances at a new romance?โ Jonathan raised an eyebrow, his tone laced with jealousy.
โIโm just afraid Iโll interfere with your moving on,โ Teresa retorted. โArenโt you supposed to be marrying Ms. Kelly?โ
โI already have two children. Why would I even consider marrying her? Besides, I have zero interest in her,โ Jonathan said.
โSheโs from a prominent family, and she even visited your grandfather. Isnโt your mother quite fond of her?โ Teresa pressed.
Jonathan felt a fresh wave of frustration. His brows furrowed. Why does it always come back to my mother? Iโm not a mamaโs boy, he thought.
โLetโs not get sidetracked. Weโre discussing your living arrangements. If you wish to remain at Rosary Estates for now, then Iโll move in with you,โ Jonathan said.
Teresa was speechless.
โSo, either you move in with me, or I move in here, or we both return to Luviston Estates,โ Jonathan continued.
โHold on,โ Teresa said, completely baffled. โLuviston Estates was our marital home. Weโre divorced, and now you want us to move back there? Thatโs not a viable option. Youโre not giving me any real choices.โ
โFine, Iโll move in here. Iโll arrange for maternity nannies to handle the cooking and cleaning, but they wonโt be staying overnight,โ Jonathan said, stepping back. โThatโs settled, for now.โ He glanced at the clock. โIโll head back now and move in tomorrow.โ
Teresa frowned. โCan you not be so bossy? I havenโt even agreed to any of this yet.โ
โThen what do you want? You donโt want to reconcile, you donโt want to move in with me, and you donโt want me moving in here either.โ
โEither way, I need to keep an eye on you and the baby. What if you faint again and no one is around? I canโt let that happen,โ Jonathan insisted.
Teresa bit her lip, thinking, Maybe he only cares about the baby now. If I werenโt pregnant, thereโs no way things would have improved between us. She took a deep breath. โI can take care of myself. Just visit when you have time. Thatโs enough.โ
โNo way,โ Jonathan said firmly. โIf you wonโt let me move in, then when Miriam returns, Iโll settle things with her.โ
Teresa gritted her teeth. โThatโs your go-to threat.โ
โItโs not a threat; Iโm letting it slide. Letโs move forward. You kept Mike from me, and Iโm willing to let that go,โ Jonathan replied.
Teresa fell silent again.
Jonathanโs expression made it clear: if Teresa didnโt comply, he would deal with the people around her.
Chapter 721
Teresa finally spoke. โI have one condition. Donโt tell Mike Iโm pregnant yet. He just reconciled with you and is really happy about it. I donโt want him to walk on eggshells around me because of the pregnancy. Iโll tell him myself once itโs obvious.โ
