Chapter 579
Werner had never seen Cathy like that before. Usually, when she made a fuss about something, he would just buy her a little something to appease her, and things would go back to normal. But this time, she was beyond appeasing.
Realizing that Cathy was truly set on divorcing him this time, Werner suddenly cried in desperation. Cathy just stared at him, not wanting to give him the time of day.
Werner pleaded with Cathy, his voice trembling, โCathy, I swear, this is my first and only mistake. I really donโt want to lose everything. Please, just forgive me this once, since itโs my first offense. Iโll never go to those kinds of places again.โ
He was really done dirty by Liam. Liam even had someone get him wasted. None of this was his fault; it was all on them.
โEnough!โ Cathy snapped, her voice trembling with rage. โThis is exactly what I hate most about you. Why do you always shift the blame whenever something goes wrong? Have you no shame as a man?โ
Wernerโs gaze stiffened for a moment. Then he desperately vowed to Cathy again, โI swear, this is the only mistake Iโve ever made in my life. I promise, Iโve never done anything else to betray you.โ
Cathy just couldnโt believe it. She refused to accept that this was the only time Werner had betrayed her. For the first time, she began to question their decades-long marriage.
Even with all his vows and promises that this was his only transgression, Cathy refused to believe a single word.
โIโm done with you. Why donโt you just go live with Liam? Iโll call Cheryl back and make sure she knows everything. So, from now on, youโll never be able to show your face to our children again.โ
Werner pleaded, โWhy do you have to drag us both through the mud? If you go telling all our friends and relatives what I did, it wonโt just be me whoโs humiliated, and youโll be embarrassed too. How will you ever show your face again?โ
Cathy snapped at Werner, โYouโre the one who should be ashamed. If you didnโt want to be laughed at, you shouldโve kept your pants on. How dare you talk to me about saving face now?โ
Werner pleaded, โI was completely wasted that night. I havenโt been that drunk in ages.โ
โSo, whyโd you drink so much, then?โ Cathy sneered, her voice dripping with sarcasm. โIs there anything going on that I donโt already know about?โ
Wernerโs words died in his throat. That other matter was far more serious than this. Itโs a secret he would have to take to his grave.
Werner pleaded, โLiam forced this on me. He kept insisting on getting me two women. I told him no. But I was so drunk, I honestly donโt even remember what happened after that. And when I went to Shaville, it was to confront him about this exact thing. I was actually trying to warn him to stay away from those kinds of places, too.โ
Cathy sneered, utterly disappointed in Werner. โStill trying to weasel out of it, even now? Did Liam fake that medical report for you?โ
Werner choked on his words. Cathyโs heart sank to the pit of her stomach as she saw his expression. โGet out of here right now,โ she snapped. โI never want to see your ugly, disgusting face again.โ
Werner remained crying, pleading desperately, โI swear I havenโt done anything else wrong all these years. Please, just forgive me this once, for the sake of our children. Think how bad a divorce would be.โ
Cathy gritted her teeth and snapped at Werner, โSo youโre not leaving? Just keep crying here and see if you can move yourself with your own pathetic act. Iโm out of here.โ
Cathy threw some clothes into a suitcase and was about to storm out when Werner scrambled to his feet from the floor, demanding, โWhere are you going?โ
โGet out of my way!โ Cathy snapped, shoving Werner aside. โDonโt you dare touch me. Youโre disgusting.โ
