After a few seconds of silence, Jennifer said, โI bought them for Isabel.โ
Sanford said, โOkay. I saw you carrying a toy car. Does Isabel like boy toys like that?โ Jennifer nodded. โSheโs been staying at Teresaโs place these days. She kept asking for toys, so I got her some.โ
Jennifer was about to leave, but Sanford still didnโt believe her. After that, she offered to drive him back to the hotel. Sanford sighed, but got in the car anyway. He said, โJennifer, weโve been friends for years. Donโt you trust me? You can tell me straight if something is up.โ
Jennifer had told Sanford before that Teresa had a son. But then it turned into a daughter, and she wasnโt Teresaโs but Teresaโs motherโs. So, actually, she was Teresaโs little sister. However, Sanford remembered that he had seen a boy lying next to Teresa in Cherylโs car once. He couldnโt help but relate that to Jennifer buying a toy car. Sanford narrowed his eyes.
Jennifer said coldly, โWhat do you want me to say? Can you please not make things harder for me?โ She couldnโt let anything go wrong with her wedding. She was a perfectionist, so she didnโt want to talk about Michael right now.
Sanford sighed again and said, โYou can drop me off by the curb. I need to go to the mall and pick up some stuff before going back to the hotel.โ Jennifer agreed and quickly changed the subject. โHey, can you sing a song at my wedding? I donโt want to be the bride with no one singing for me.โ
โIsnโt Teresa singing for you?โ asked Sanford.
Jennifer said, โTrust me, you donโt want to hear Teresa sing.โ
Sanford replied, โAlright.โ Sanford thought for a moment and then smiled. He said, โIโll prepare for it. Your wedding comes first. Weโll talk about whatever else after your wedding.โ
โThanks.โ Jennifer knew Sanford wouldnโt give her any more trouble. After all these years as friends and classmates, she knew Sanford well.
Cheryl had to go back to attend Donaldโs wedding. She had skipped his engagement last time, which really ticked off their parents. Now, with Donaldโs grand wedding coming up, it would be impossible to justify not showing up as his little sister.
Cheryl told Lyndon about it, the same guy she saw first when she woke up after fainting from heatstroke last time. After that scare, seeing someone so warm and caring and always looking out for her, Cheryl couldnโt help but feel a little moved. Lyndon often took Cheryl out to eat. Every time they met, he would bring her flowersโsometimes daisies, sometimes pink roses, sometimes lilies. He said that Cheryl was as delicate and beautiful as the flowers.

Cheryl said to Lyndon, โI need to go back to Nareigh for a bit. My brotherโs wedding is coming. I have to be there.โ They were walking in the park. Lyndon took her hand and said, โCan I come with you? Maybe Iโll catch some of your brotherโs wedding luck and get married soon myself.โ
Cherylโs cheeks turned red, but she didnโt pull her hand away. She said, โI canโt bring you. Youโre not my boyfrโโ
โWhat did you say?โ asked Lyndon.
โYouโre not my boyfriend.โ Cheryl puffed up her cheeks and said it out loud. Lyndon looked at her gently. โThen will you give me a chance to be your boyfriend?โ
Cheryl didnโt nod, but she didnโt say no either. Lyndon smiled softly and said, โCheryl, I like you.โ He held her hand and leaned in, about to kiss her. But just as their lips were about to meet, Cherylโs mind suddenly buzzed, and she pushed Lyndon away.
